Such is the nature of the western US. For the majority of the time we are faced with drought conditions and near empty reservoirs. Just when things look bleak, prayers are answered and we get these toad chokers that fill the reservoirs overnight and floods sometimes follow. Then prayers turn to those in need.

Here is a real Top Gun. That is a United States Navy Fighter Weapons School patch on his left arm.

Thought I would share some of the photos from the Kennedy Space Center here in Florida. Space Shuttle Atlantis is the main display. All shot with the D600 and 16mm 3.5 AI.

Thanks J-A. A little like Cruise in the face - maybe. However, this marine is probably 4-feet taller than Cruise

Cruise should be proud to even be mentioned in the same breath with this hero!

One of the many National Guard helicopters working search and rescue out of KBDU (Boulder Colorado) today. We've seen folks in wheel chairs, wild land fire fighters and perhaps most interesting, dozens of 5th grade kids who had been on school sponsored three day camp up in the mountains get dropped off today. The National Guard is doing great things for Colorado today.

Hey Andrew, as far as Disney World is concerned, we will go to Epcot, and maybe Animal Kingdom. Other than that, I am not sure. Any help with other attractions there will be greatly appreciated. My niece just got back from there about a month ago, so she has helped some.

How to make a u-turn with an Airbus on a tight ramp

Did you shoot this from the parking garage in between the runways? I passed through there yesterday and was thinking of the shot...

Okokokokokok! Haaaang on. Been investigating Reno brewpubs tonight (priorities).

It was awesome watching Strega storm past everyone in the silver class yesterday and today. Let us hope the gold class is as entertaining! They flew this evening and it was cool. Although Spirit of Texas bailed out half way through; don't know why.

I have been cheering on certain Sport class racers. Racin' Jason 391 in his RV-8 came within a hair's breadth of overtaking the nitrous Glasair in front of him, so much so that we couldn't tell who had won at the finish. He lost by a nose and consequently has built a nose extension on his spinner so he can overtake the guy tomorrow (Tim if you're reading, check it out, it's hilarious)

Alan in his Lancair race 22 has had his crew building extra fairings for draggy parts on his plane, we shall see how those work out in the morning.

Don't expect any of those dawn and dusk shiny pictures from me, I haven't been there at those times and doubt that will change tomorrow. We shall see!

While Ive got you attention guys I need a few opinions.

When I get to Alliance Im tossing up about lenses.
Im bringing my 1D4 & 100/400f5.6, my 5D3 & 70/200F2.8 plus a 1.4TCIII, due to the fact that my 300f2.8 is too heavy to lug to Allen & all the way around Charlotte , LA & Vegas Im thinking about hiring a Lens,
What are the opinions on either a 300f2.8 or a 400

(Quote)
Al, Jim is right about the focal lengths but make sure you rent the V2 of the lens. It will save you 2.5-3 lbs. As an option, why not look at renting a 200-400? It looks to be similarly priced for rental as the 400 2.8 II and about 1/2 lb lighter to boot.

Lens Rentals 200-400

Thanks Leo,
Competitive Cameras is a bust for 400f2.8 or 200/400F4...
Think Ill get onto Lens Rentals to see how I go.

If you go with Lens Rentals, I've also got a lens coming from them for Wednesday delivery to the local FedEx office in McKinney, a couple of miles west of HQ. Maybe they would consolidate the shipments and save us a few bucks each?
