wow this is like a D600 mini-me.

I will likely end up selling my D5100 and replacing with this, once the price settles down a little in a few months. It's the perfect small travel body.

That's one heck of a bargain. Glad to see Nikon didn't short change the autofocus like Canon does with some of its lower end cameras.

I will be purchasing one...probably before I get my D800. The articulating rear screen is going to be very nice.

Nikon has now another partner besides Sony, Aptina Renesas and it's Toshiba. The sensor in the camera is a Toshiba manufactured sensor.
How many partners have the Canon? and where is a new sensor tech from Canon?

If the new sensor is as good as or better than the 16mp sensor for noise/DR, I'll be interested in one of these. I've been playing with a d5100 for the last couple of months and really like having a small body, especially with that swivel screen, for daily carry or quick snaps.

But, the sensor is key to me. I don't want a high ISO noisebox, so I'm very interested in seeing the full range of performance on this sensor. I don't care about the compressed 14bit RAW. My experiments with the d800 compressed RAW have alleviated my concern on using the compression for most shoots.

That $799 price seems to be the same price as the V2. Is that equivalent value?

Looks like the V2 is about half the weight. 16MPixels vs 24MPixels.

Much smaller sensor on the V2. No tilting screen.

It sort of like comparing apples and oranges.
