Saturday was a lovely day in New York City. Clouds were forecast to move in about sunset and I headed to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in the late afternoon hoping for some very pretty skies. As you can see in the reflections I was not disappointed. ![]() D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 800, 1/500, f8, fill flash (SB910 + Better Beamer) This is the view looking North West over the West Pond. Jamaica Bay separates the mound you see the people on and the hill which was once the Canarsie Dump. Behind the dump are buildings in Brooklyn. The taller buildings are in Manhattan and include One World Trade Center on the right. Most of the buildings to the left of the WTC are in Hoboken NJ. -2 ![]() D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 800, 1/200, f8, fill flash (SB910 + Better Beamer) Strolling on the beach south of the West Pond Dam -3 ![]() D200 + 80-400 VR @ 400mm, ISO 800, 1/80, f5.6, fill flash (SB910 + Better Beamer) Walking through beach channel south of the West Pond Dam -4 ![]() D200 + 80-400 VR @ 80mm, ISO 800, 1/80, f5.6, fill flash (SB910 + Better Beamer) Man at the breach channel edge looking at ducks with binoculars. The rockaways are in the background and we are seeing lights for the first time. Comments and suggestions welcome, Morris |
