Nice shots. I'm transitioning from football to basketball and going to shoot first bball game of the season this Friday night. I also have 2 AB800s. I looked at the exif of pic 1 and noticed it was shot at f4.5. is that correct? Did you use the same f4.5 with the 70-200 too? Did you use custom WB or AWB. Sorry for all the questions but i'd like to reporduce this affect. Thanks |

I was shooting at about 1/2 power on my strobes...maybe 1/4 power. I had them up on a railing, pointed at center court, I drew an imaginary line from the sideline side of the reflector going straight down the sideline, and a imaginary line at the angle of the bottom of the reflector pointed at the baseline. This gave me half court coverage. ![]() |

I'm seeing a lot of shadows? Would it have been possible to shoot some kind of a bounce off of the walls (the ceiling looks really horrible)? |

Ed, the location of the strobes for the first 4 shots were not ideal for direct fire. Too low. Once I got the strobes up in the upper bleacher area as shown in the last photo, the shadows were not as bad. They were still there, but with the strobe placement higher and pointed better, they were less of a problem. Nope, bouncing off walls would not work, Dark blue banners everywhere for all the Jefferson County and State titles they have won over the last 10 years.....and it is a lot! |
