Read Roger Cicala's first impressions on the new Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM A1.
According to his Imatest test, the lens is very sharp outperforming Canon and Nikon's own.

My first impressions, FWIW. It's really sharp.

Yes! So again we have to spend about 43% more (inluding our 19% tax) for the same lens ...

Roger, I liked you. And again: I will wear your Shirt with honor.
But after this quick "review" I have to think about quiting contact.
Following your lines is getting to expensive for my vallet.

There’s some onion-ring bokeh in the third photo, though the rendering is otherwise pleasant. Shaping up to be a nice lens!

I was thinking a 28 1.8, but may have to step up. Hope to see some full reviews in next couple of weeks. If it outperforms the L consistently, it becomes a no brainer...

I'm saving you money!!! It's cheaper than the 35 L. It's probably $1,500 cheaper than the 35 L II will be.

Buying the Sigma now will be kind of like a vaccination, helping you resist when the II is announced.

Waiting for the shoot-out against the new Canon 35mm f/2.0
For my own needs IS is more valuable than the extra stop, but after reading Roger's report I am torn...

@ Massimo:
Same here. Same price. IS against 1 stop. But does the 2.0 reach the Canon L IQ?
Life has been so easy before 2012

I just noticed the canon mount says it comes with a 1 year warranty. I thought they usually offered a 4 year (1 USA and 3 international) warranty
