Our local teams are out, but my coworker's son's team is still in the running, so I went to their game on Friday night.

I'll be out of town for the regional finals next week. The match up against the team I shot the week before, with the longest win streak in the state (26).

Same setup as last week... 1D Mk4, 200/1.8L + 1.4x TC, 3 speedlites...

16. Field goals are fairly rare, so the kicker was excited

Clarence....you nailed these. You consistently are a leader on the use of flash with night football. On a lot of these...it looks like someone pulled down a black backdrop to meet the green field. I love the fact you were able to capture the "after" of the kicker. Images are sharp and colors are vibrant. Great series.

If you have any shots of this....could you post a few of your setup.

Several shots of my setup in this thread:

The setup and settings are easy... I just set the camera to M, 1/1000", f/2.8, ISO 3200 and let ETTL do all the work on the speedlites.

By far some of the best use of flash for HS FB Iv'e ever seen. Virtually no shadows.

Great stuff,

Bryan

Nope, I literally copied the LR settings from last week and pasted to the whole batch...

Highlights -25 (to recover any blown whites)
Shadows +25
Whites +25
Blacks -5 (to get the deep blacks back after all that shadow and white boosting)

Clarity +11
Vibrance +11
(that's about the most I can tolerate... I don't like over-saturation)

NR 25

Custom AR for MP (2.166 x 1.6).

Sync to all.

Then go through each one to crop and straighten (and yes, I somehow miss about 25% of the horizons... a few of them I intentionally don't do if a foot or the ball is already too close to the edge, but some of them I just don't notice until I see them here).
