Shot the quarter finals last night of the 5A state championship playoffs between Ralston Valley (#3 in the state) and Pomona (#6 in the state).

Shook things up and used the 1D Mk II on the 120-300 2.8 with the 580ex II flash. Shot somewhere between ISO 640 and 800 and 1/250th and 2.8 to 3.5.

3. This kid had a great run, around 25 yards, was headed to the end zone, got hit and fumbled the ball away.

4. Next series after the fumble recovery, this running back is stripped of the ball, but he recovered it.

Very nice flash/ambient balance.

Great set from beginning to end! Even at my best, I can't balance flash and ambient nearly as well as you have here.

Nice series. I assume these are cropped for sales, but I'd like to see the last one (#8) cropped a bit tighter.

Thanks Dennis and Derrick. I have worked pretty hard over the years trying to get the best output from my flash set up for football.

Caleb, actually, I do not like cropping at all. I usually crop in camera. It is one of the things I do like doing for MaxPreps, cropping 100 to 200 photos a game pre their standards just takes up time. I am getting great sales from MaxPreps though, so I won't complain too much.

Thanks Chris. I finally get a 1pm start this Saturday, but it is on the other side of Denver for me, and we already have one MaxPreps shooter there. I may give up the 1pm start to move indoors for some college hockey....
