One of my first attempts at photographing Milky Way...

Beautiful shot!!

I am hoping 'one of my first shots'.....that night!

I have taken a lot of shots of the Milky Way at night and I have not got a single one that could touch that, let alone one of my first which probably would have been a black frame.

Nice shot. I didn't realize that the Milky Way was this high in sky in October. Looks more like a July or August shot of it.

Guess it depends on which part of the World the photographer took the picture, eh?

Klaus, this shot was taken on my recent trip to Southwest (early October). The richest part of the Milky Way was visible only for about 2 hours after the sunset (camera was set to EST). Since this was my first time seeing this part of the Milky Way, I assume that during the summer it is much higher...

That is a gorgeous shot, may I ask what equipment and settings you used?

I am always trying to find out better ways to take nice night shots.

This looks VERY nice, would mind telling if is 2 or 3 shots combined? IOW, were you able to get the clouds and foreground in a single exposure and then add the astro? Or are they separate layers.

Is this a composite? I can't tell any other way for you to so perfectly nail the exposure on the tent and get the long shutter for the sky...
