Specialty hot air balloons at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival.
If you've never been there- go.
And include White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns National Park in your itinerary.
That's a triple treat.

Excellent pictures Charlie.
I have gone to a balloon festival here in Connecticut, but that one wasn't very successful.
They had only one balloon going up due to high winds. Chickens !
That dog in your last image looks strangely familiar.
Now, where did I see it before?

Thanks Tom, Joe, Lazlo and Bob.
Mass ascensions are amazing experiences:
Several hundred hot air balloons taking flight within about two hours.
They fill the air all around you as you wander among them.
Possible subjects and perspectives change by the second.
Gadzooks! It IS fun.

You wouldnt think these would work in BW.
But they do.
The shots are great, as are the conversions.
Nice work Charlie!

Thanks Guari, John and Scott.
Yep, I liked the beagle .
I'm thinking these work in B&W primarily because of the unique shapes. The normal upside-down teardrop balloons probably wouldn't convert as well.
