Yeah, my timing was great too. Sold mine for $1600 last week, bought the 5D3 for $2700 and after the tax benefits it turned out to be about a $200 upgrade for a way better camera under warranty.

Just DIDN'T yet get around to selling mine yet.

Although maybe these will sell out fast and then there will be no new ones for a few months and demand buils and you know....
maybe I can sell it for $300.00 then hah.

Well, clearly this is the swansong for a fine camera. Once these clearance 5D2s are gone they're gone! Here in the UK the 5D2 is now £1500 new, a great buy but you guys in the US still get your kit MUCH cheaper than we do. The US price is an absolute bargain! Go buy two!

I'm waiting for it to go down to $1199.

Maybe there's a business opportunity for smuggling cameras into the UK from US?

Here in the US, if the item being smuggled is not itself contraband (i.e. drugs, guns, etc.), the penalties are fairly light and usually non-criminal. Basically, pay a fine and the tax if caught. How is it there?

If you're smuggling as a hobby :-D, maybe. But if you want to run it as a commercial operation, the penalties look rather different...

I don't understand... Vistek.ca has had them on for $1799.99 w/ free shipping since at least early last week, and that's Canadian too..

This is good news for me. I won't be able to afford a camera until spring. I was expecting to pay $1400-$1500 for a used one in the spring. Maybe I can pick one up (used) for $1100-$1250 by then. It's a great camera.

I sold my 4 year old 5D2 (with a new $300 shutter) for $1800 four months ago, so I guess I didn't do too badly.

I see Future Shop in Canada is offering the 5D2 with an EF 40MM f/2.8, Lenspen cleaning pen, handheld tripod and a camera bag for $1899.
