Philippines. Portrait of an 82-year old fisherman. Caught him while he was daydreaming.
Noticed me approaching and then gave me his smile

Very nice, Velu. I like the natural cross lighting you found here. I also really dig all the lines and patterns that you incorporated in the background.

Thank you Phil !

He not just looks great for his age, he acts great as well

He started working at an early age and he still does.
Goes with his grandson, by boat, checking the fishing nets.
One moment you could find him while he was opening a coconut with a machete, next one he was singing and playing local songs on this ancient ukulele

We could hardly communicate by words, but at the end of my project he came along to the local airfield and we both became "emotional"

Thank you David,

I just went for that light, which I did find "magical" in that corner.
The lines came with the bamboo construction .
Initially, I did not notice the lines behind his back on the wall.

It's a nice shot of a very nice person.

Nice shot! Out of curiosity where in the Philippines was this shot? The man might be a distant relation

Ok heard back, my father has met him (though not recently). He is related to my grandfather and sells prawns to other fisherman to raise. Small world!
