And yes the 40mm / 1.2L lens... but of all the smoke on that page, 46MP is realistic.

5fps at 46MP? that would be quite impressive. What canon needs to do, more than anything else, is improve its sensor techonolgy wrt DR. a 5d3 with the d800 sensor, or even d600 sensor would make it the best camera out there, for just about anything. one of the highest source of demand for a high MP SLR would be from landscape photographers.

5 * 46mp is 230mp/sec, or more than the 1dx. If it does it it will be for 7 frames or something.

Also 16bit is an utter joke. Honestly that would bulk the files out hugely (increasing the buffer/write issues above) and has absolutely no return as we and canon especially are far from making full use of 14bit.

Ridiculous. Somebody should be fired for that chicanery.

Really? The 7D is quite noisy and above ISO 400 requires a lot of PP that affects color subtlety. After 3 years the sensor shoudl be better. I think it is common knowledge that Canon does not have as good of a sensor supplier as other brands do.

Canon design their own sensors (apart from the P&S sonys) and fab some of them but not all of them.

Apart from the low ISO read noise there every bit as good as the exmoors, but thats the tricky thing to get right now and what causes low iso banding & lower dynamic range.

Canon already offer 3 sizes of Raw file which is a much better solution than nikons crop mode.

Yes, I'd love that set-up, like so many here. As Kevin said, it's a lot about DR needing to get a boost besides increased MP. But true or joke, this is the camera most on this forum would love to see introduced, especially under $4000.

I don't know if I'd need a 40/1.2L, but it sounds intriguing after using the 40/2.8 STM. I'd maybe be happier with a 60/1.2L.

46mp because its a FF version of the 18mp aps-c sensor.

I was imagining that in crop mode it would give the extra "reach" like a crop cam with the obviously smaller files and corresponding FPS boost.
Probably not going to happen though since Canon seems to be married to SRAW/MRAW.
