Thanks. there were two of them, in suburban Texas. They had found a dead mastiff and were rather upset with me for disturbing their meal.

never good to see one of those around...you have a good bit of sensor dust or dust on the lens, likely the latter since the shot was at f/16.

I have a friend who is getting on up in the years, but he still plays golf. When he spots one of these birds cruising over the golf course, he usually admonishes his partners to keep moving. Seeing your entry, I would say that his is not a bad idea.
