Hi guys, this is my first post, nice to meet you all.

I was fortunate enough to meet or talk to quite a few of you FMers which helped me a lot. Really thankful for that.

I am posting 4 pics from my recent trip to Katmai National Park. I was with a small group of photographers led by Chas Glatzer. We have been searching for brown bears for days and finally found a good spot. The water almost reached my chest as I was kneeling down to get a better angle. The water was freezing cold. But I wasn't sure if the uncontrollable shivering of my body and my teeth was due to the ice-cold water or the fear of facing the mighty wildlife right in front of us.

All the pics were taken with a Canon 1D Mark IV and 500mm F4 on a RRS tvc-33 tripod and Wimberley II head. ISO 800, 1/1600s, and between f5.0-f8 depending on the light as it was overcast but the light kept changing that day.

Thank you, Tim! Great experience indeed, we were in that river for 4 hours and I probably yelled the most "Holy Shxt" in my life in that 4 hours.

Thank you, Eric! It was worth it. But I did feel numbness in my lower body near the end. And my legs were so sore the next day.

Hi, I guess they were playing. I didn't see what happened before the fight. All I heard was some low bass moan. Quickly pointed my lens towards them and they were already fighting like that. I saw another fight and one of them still had the salmon in his mouth though. Anyway, nice to meet you!

AWESOME shots Tin!! I am planning out my trip to Katmai next August. I just got a new job and can finally afford to go the right way! I am so excited but so overwhelmed with how many choices of places to go to. Do you recommend the tour guide you mentioned above? Is Katmai the best place to see Grizzly? I would LOVE to go to the Chilkat River in November when all the Bald Eagles congregate there. Seems to be a one week trip there alone, as the tours are arranged that way. Keep the pics coming!!

Not to bad for a first post, My time at Brooks camp in katmai makes me appreciate your efforts and the great images you created. Will look forward to more of your work Bruce
