Just a little skyline out in the country near Santa Fe. Yesterday brought on some amazing storms in the afternoon and chased this one down. The lightning displays from this cell were really nice.

Very nice! You couldn't ask for better positioning of the lightning bolt in this composition...
Absolutely extraordinary, indeed...

Seriously, I've made thousands of lightning attempts (we get a lot of thunderstorms here, but the sky is generally smaller), and I would probably figure I'd peaked with this one...and of course the church itself is a classic...

I just can't turn the page , but I need to stop ranting...

Congratulations, Sir.

Jerry,
Thanks and just at the right place at the right time. The lightning actually got better as the storm moved into open country but was sure happy to catch this.

As soon as Mairi described the shot and the fact she thought it could be a winner I knew who had taken it.

Fab landscape as always by the master!

You're the master at capturing lightning, Klaus, my dear friend! Nobody does it better. I could tell this was you shot from the thumbnail.

Speaking of lightning, have you seen this? http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120723.html Enjoy!

Fond regards,

Endre

Very, very good shot, both aesthetically as from a technical point of view. I hope you managed to make it out without soaking because that looks rather close...
