Just wondering how many of the oldest (not age) FM members are still around?

I joined in August of 2002.

Did you join during the first year?

Thanks

Rod

All 2002 members who are still active on FM are a very special bunch. The site quality thanks you.
BTW: We should have a special profile star on 2002 FMers!

Kudos - founding fathers for the darn best site for people like us! May the next 10 years be just as good!

Hey Grant, that's the "before" picture. Where's the "after"?

I did not quite make it in 2002. That was my last year with Mamiya M7 and Fuji 6x9 in addition to the 35 mm film cameras.

Before the 1Ds no 35mm DLSRs had sufficient IQ to match even 135 IMO. The 1Ds was my first digital in early 2003 and the one that changed everything.

I started with the D30. It was revolutionary.
Like you, once the Canon 1Ds was released, things got exciting again. Never looked back to crop sensors.

In 2002, I was still under the delusion that DPR was sensible use of my time. I also started with the D30, and keep it for sentimental reasons. After a used 1Ds hit half price, I upgraded. The 1Ds remains my main DSLR, although the 1Ds3 is looking more attractive every day. Next year is my 10th with FM... what a decade!

Actually, aren't there a handful of other founders who (like yourself, Fred) came online in December 2001?

BTW, kudos to all 2002 members who are still active here! It's been a wild (digital)ride the last 10 years! In 2002, I was only a 'digital preemie' using a Canon Elph P&S (which I still have)...I did not fully convert to digital until December of '03.

I feel like such a "Johny come lately." It took me a year to discover FM

I am just a newbie. I did not join until May 2003. Seems like yesterday!

Whoa what a pleasant memory registering in 2002. So many excellent shooters to learn from. The eclectic board then had everyone giving feedback on genres way out of their own style of shooting and enjoying every minute of it. Totally happy times photographically and socially.

Age wise, hmm probably in the top ten also....(69) now.

Thank you Fred for such glorious times.

Fred, if I pay you $20, will you change my JOIN date in your database to Jan 1 2001?

Guess I'm part of this club. Joined Oct 01, 2002. I had a Canon D30 and a Tokina 28-70 f2.8 at that time. I paid $2200 for a new D30 and recent purchased a used one for only $100! How times has changed.
