The 7D is geriatric... When is Canon finally going to update it?! So frustrated with Canon right now I am about to sell it all and go Nikon. 60D was such a huge dissapointment also... sigh. I look back on the build quality of the 10D compared to the new models and shake my head. If Nikon made a 100-400 L equivalent I would have already jumped ship.

Of course with the stellar release of the 5DMKIII, maybe I can just add some black tape to my 7D as an upgrade.

What's wrong with it? Seems to me all Canon can do to it is to give us a slightly newer sensor. In terms of AF and IQ the 7D is a pretty outstanding body IMHO.

The EOS 7D is 2 1⁄2 years old, and it launched with a brand new sensor, a brand new autofocus system, new features like off-camera flash control, and novel ergonomics. In what way is it geriatric?

If you can't take the photos you want with the 7D, you should sell your gear.... And give up photography.

Of course image quality is a different matter, in which case you should look at full frame instead of an APS-C replacement for the 7D.

Just go ahead and jump to Nikon.

Nikon makes some excellent point and shoots.

The "geriatric" 7D AF system(ver 2.0 mind you) just got plunked into the 1D X and 5D III. So please, tell us what's so old..... With all due respect, post a "old gear for sale" add in the B&S section and please get rid of all your "old" gear and get some shiny new RED gear and whine on the RED section about how "old" RED glass is. Bu Bye!

Sure, I wouldn't mind a refresh ... but my 7D keeps "swinging" pretty well ... ;-)

I don't think it's the camera that's the problem. Especially considering there are many, many, many happy users. Sometimes people have to realize they need to do something other what they want to do. Maybe they're not good at it and use an easy out to blame something else (such as the gear).

7D is a pretty damn good camera. Could use some help on high ISO noise but then you're getting into another class entirely, which in case you didn't notice, the 60D is.

To be honest with you, I really like the noise from the 7D, there's no horizontal or vertical banding. I'm really surprised to find that 5D3 noise contains banding.

Me too. It's one of the reasons I use the 7D so much! I hate banding. The 7D's noise pattern looks very natural to me. It's the first camera I'm really happy with. The only reason to look forward to a 7DII would be that I could replace my 50D with one and hopefully get the same interface and usability.

No please don't. Until recently the Nikon forum was relatively reasonable. I'd like to keep it that way

Maybe I'm just missing the point, but I think (for what it is, a camera stuck in the middle between casual user and semi-pro) the 60D is a great camera. I've used a friends off and on for months and been very happy with the results. Secondly, I'm shooting a (really) old 5DC, which produces what I consider to be fantastic images all the time (image quality wise anyway, it's not the cameras fault if I'm not creative enough).

I switched from Nikon back to Canon last year because I felt I could find better deals on used Canon equipment, I have no intention of switching back. To each his own I suppose. But, the more complaining I read about how disappointing their D800, 5D3 (or in this case, 7D) is, the more I think some will never be satisfied with anything, ever.

What else do you want from the 7D?

A little lower noise? emm.. a few more bells and whistles? What doesn't it currently do than it needs to do?

It's not like the camera is really lacking to begin with. People are so entitled, it's hilarious.
