If there was f8 AF, I would probably buy this... well, and if I had money to burn.

Personally I like the 5D Mark II files but would like to see improvements in the shadow quality. (no banding, less noise)
I'm hoping that the Mark III addressed these issues. I'm getting a production model to test along with the Nikon D800. I don't need FPS but if I did, I would look no further than the 1DX.

NICE. Hmm, I could sell my 70-200 II, 35L, 1DsII and 1D 3 and only half to pony up about another $700 to get the camera body but have no lenses, perfect!

I wish I'd have seen Fred's request before I placed my order.... I placed mine a couple hours before his post...

Just place my order. Couldn't resist; I had a $3.90 B&H gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket

As if 3.90 is really going to make a dent in that price tag. . .

I still don't get why Canon decided not to compete with Nikon on the price of the new bodies...

Canon is either smart and greedy because enough of us are willing to pay the price to sellout the first batch
or
Canon is dumb and poorly judged the demand at the higher prices, pissing off too many potential buyers and will have to lower their prices sooner than later.

It just seems to me that Nikon has used the smarter strategy in this round, but only time will tell.
Competition is good, but only if the players are willing to play the game.

interesting; the price difference in our part of the world between 1dx and d4 is actually smaller

Preordered the new EF 600 and 1 D X Weeks ago

I am dying to see the FF files at highers ISO's of the 1 D X

For wildlife shooters the extra FPS and Improved ISO performance will hopefully be worth the $$$. It will be interesting to compare the Mark IV, 5 D II files against the 1 D X.

If everyone would EMAIL Canon to get them moving faster I'd appreciate it

So you're the reason prices are so high!

Agreed. It would seem that these "New" Canon prices have tempered a lot of people's enthusiasm.

The 1D X has better specs than the new D4.. and plenty enough to make up the $800 price difference.
