I have a nice, sharp 28-70 2.8L that rarely gets used wide open. When I am shooting indoor sports I am using either a prime or a 70-200 2.8 IS so I don't really need the short 2.8 zoom. Most of my close up shooting has become portraits at F8 or so. I am also finding that the 28-70 is either not quite wide enough on the short end or not quite enough reach on the long end. I am thinking about trading it for a 24-105 F4. I am not sure I would miss that much since I am stopping down the 28-70 anyway. |

I've done something similar, for very similar reasons. I sold my 24-70/2.8L and kept my 24-105/4L IS. I used the 24-70L so infrequently that I figured it was worth more to me as cash, than as a lens sitting on my shelf. |

Exactly my thinking Jim. Have you found yourself missing the 24-70? |

Same here. Sold a 24-70 and kept the 24-105. No regrets...the longer range just gets used a lot more. |

You guys are making this a pretty easy decision. |

I'm doing the same thing--just bought a 24-105 refurb from Canon during their recent sale and like it so much that I've decided that I don't have much use for my heavier 24-70 2.8. Won't miss it much, as it sat in my bag most of the time. Will be selling it shortly. |

Seems like a unanimous consensus here. I guess I am off to the B&S and to look for 24-105. |
