Well, I decided to upgrade my lenses, and since everybody seems to agree that one should primarily invest in glass rather than body, will be keeping the T2i for now |

I'd still suggest the 17-55 f2.8 IS. It's f2.8, for one, and IS, for another. You can buy one used and sell it when you upgrade your camera but why limit yourself for the intervening years? If you're not going to go full frame for a while you should probably wait on a re-release of the 24-70. There are always rumors that that lens will get updated. |

The 17-40 f/4L on a 5D works very well...also in non L, there's the Canon 50 f/1.4, not expensive. Many who have Ls also have this lens, then there is the Canon 85 f/1.8, also a non L and and not expenseve, many L users have this lens too. Both the 50 & the 85 are very good in low light or inside where flash is not allowed. Both work well on the 1.6 crop and the full frame. |

It's somewhat difficult to make lens recommendations when you don't tell us anything about what you plan to spend your time shooting. |

I loved the tammy 28-75f2.8 and still use it - although it getting loose and rubber rippling off after @6 years. It's a lot more $ now, so might not be the best option now. |

I would consider 16/35 whick will translate to a 25-56 ish on your cropper and be a great lens on your full frame body also. |

on a cropper, with little $ to spend, I'd get the tamron 17-50 non-VC. I loved it when I had a 40D. |

If you're planning on the 5D, the 35L would be simply incredible. The 85 f/1.8 is another excellent choice. |

The 35L is one of those lenses that is a great focal length on both crop and FF. Wait until you buy your ff and see if the kit lens is a good deal. Right now, a 5D MK II plus 24-105 is available at a excellent price, the 24-105mm lens works out to $700 extra which is a deal! |

well, back after a paying a visit to the chinese mall, or more like a warehouse full of tight booths with the best prices in São Paulo for all things photography, even though prices are still incredibly steep compared to american standards |

I believe I suggested the tamron or sigma variants, but the OP is also fixated on spending wads of cash on L lenses that he can use on FF, even though there are "better" EF-S or crop only alternatives. That seems crazy to me, but I guess we all have different priorities. |
