Shooting since the '70s, digital since the '90s. Now marketing my work at leon-Devose.pixels.com

I was once told my work is "too journalistic," because of my fascination with the up-close perspective of plant parts. Stupidly, that made me stop even thinking about putting my work out there. I thought I was nothing more than a hack wannabe. This was nearly 20 years ago. Of course, I did not stop shooting. I just did not try to release them, thinking they were far from worthy of public consumption.

I am also a musician. I had similarly allowed some [anatomic metaphor]s bully me from doing what I love. I have since earned a degree in music, and have composed nearly (maybe more than) 200 songs. Now it is just like my photography - I am mustering up the courage to record and publish.

Then there is this problem that I have recently (in the past 10 years) discovered: I am a perfectionist.

You would probably say neurotic. I would probably agree.

As I prepare my more recent (past eight years or less) work, I will post here. Tell me how (or if) you were moved. What I try to do is convey my awe for mostly natural things that so effectively reflect the majesty and wisdom of their Creator. Things like flower blooms, butterfly wings, rock structures. I try to bring you to take a second look at the everyday, the ordinary, the mundane, and see the intricate, the fascinating, the awe-inspiring.

By the way, my most challenging work is people. I have come to simply not like taking pictures of people - only because they (we) have micro-muscular reactions to being the focal point that my cameras always seem to pick up.
