My goal is to showcase the beauty of the North to those who don't even know the north exists. – which is more common in our own country than one would think. The ambiguous ice clad tundra with all of our igloos, our polar bears and vast snowscapes...or is there more to it? My goal is to introduce the North to the South starting region by region in the Northwest Territories. I also hope to photograph the Yukon and Nunavut and show off the natural beauty of the North. The entire Canadian North.
Since I started photographing in 2007 I made it my goal to show the people in the south slave region just how beautiful, how unique and wonderful our little corner at the end of the road could be. Since then I have sold hundreds of prints to people around the region, around the north and around the entire country. I have met people around the country who, after seeing my photographs, wish to come to the North and experience it for themselves. I want to invigorate your dreams and take you to see the North through my eyes. Join me in my adventure.
I'm starting in the South Slave region and gradually throughout the years will release many more unique prints from my journey. Follow my blog and newsletter for unique adventures, stories and photography tips from my time photographing the North.
Often when northerners leave the area of North of 60 and beyond they are asked this question- Where are you from? A standard question for all, if you have traveled even as close as Edmonton, Alberta you probably have run into it at least once. So you reply, ‘Northwest Territories.’ There is a pause of oblivious silence often followed with another question in reply, “Where is that?”
I invite you to join me of my journey throughout Canada's North to answer that very question. |
