Yeah, the price here in the UK was £799 body only, including 20% VAT. That's roughly $1,250USD compared with $999 + tax in the US.
As an American living in London, I try to mitigate my equipment purchase costs by purchasing US product whenever possible (my wife is stateside at least once a month). However, the release date a good two weeks sooner here and the fact I'd have paid near $1,100 with tax in the US, I decided just to go for it. I love my X-E1 and couldn't wait for the update.
Now, when I bough my 5D MkIII it was a different story. I pre-ordered from the US and saved 40% over the cos in USD of buying locally in the UK. And I see the Nikon Df kit (with the 50 f/1.8 lens) will be $2,999 stateside while it's $4,500 in USD equivalent here. That's nuts.
