Don\'t let anyone make that choice. It\'s up to you. Only you know what your going to want and shoot with this camera.
I shot everything from DSLR to medium format. The SL1 is going to be like a rebel with anything but the 40mm pancake (or similar size lens). That still is a great size and great camera.
For me I always wanted something like the Leica X2. And canon made it. With a faster lens, doesn\'t telescope and five times cheaper. You have to be willing to use the touch screen. It\'s great. Like an iphone and focuses about the same. Again for me I\'m fine with it. I actually love just touching the screen to change my focus points, bump up the iso etc.
With the M you won\'t have many lenses to chose from unless you want to use the adapter and EF lenses. If you do buy the SL1.
If you have the chance to try one out then you\'ll know if it\'s for you. Image wise they\'ll both put out.
