Re: Mustang Air to Air: The Sequel

I was able to chat with the owner / pilot of the BK Bird this morning before they headed back to Long Island with a stop over in Cape May for gas.

It was built in 1930 and first sold in 1931. He has an actual photo of it and 4 other birds in a line he said and this was the only one in the photo that you could see the registration number on.

It\'s got a 24 gallon tank .. I\'m thinking he\'s got the 90 hp as he said there is a 100 hp engine that runs thru 5.5 gallons of fuel an hour. He used 10 gallons from Cape May to Horne Point, MD.

He ended up taking another guy back ( photog who shot the Bamboo Bomber pilot for an antique fly in calander ) as the 150 that was going to trail him back to Long Island had a full load of fuel and with the soft field, 3 BIG guys in that plane was more than a notion .. so they split up the load.

A few more of it from this morning ...... yes, it has the KINNER engine

The rain started around 1130 and in the next 1.5 hours almost all planes had left !!
