Stephen Gandy's Camera Quest has new 125/2.5 APO-Lanthar Macros in Pentax-K and Olympus OM mounts for $729, so $500 for an OM might not be too bad. The big question is of course if they have managed to make a lens with decent bokeh this time. They are a bit strange over at Cosina. In KA-mount this lens will meet some competition from the classic Pentax 43/1.9 Limited as well as from the Pancake Pentax 40/2.8. Slower but with AF and optically better than the old Ultron 40/2 in my opinion. The 58mm is a lens I'm not familiar with at all. I notice this one also is called version two. Logically, thats what one would expect but amazingly for the EOS mount, Cosina added the electronic active connections to a few of the SL lenses so the EOS versions do have auto aperture. Should have jumped on it. Oh well, here's hoping they introduce a "II" version of it in EOS mount and satisfies some of that demand that drove the prices up. I paid $75 for my Nikkor 50/1.4- it's smaller, lighter, cheaper, and probably just as good maybe better. I've seen this kind of behaviour before, though not to the same degree, on my C/Y 35-70 wide open (which is one area where the Leica 35-70/4 beats the Contax easily), so I don't think this behaviour is exclusive to the ZF 50 . Andi's sample images from the ZF 50 were uniformly excellent. He also spoke quite highly of it. I did notice a something of a glow in the wide open shot, but other posters suggested that was fairly common and potentially situation-based. I'll see if that effect is duplicated in my wide-open samples. Hopefully, I can get some samples over the next day or so, and potentially a side-by-side comparison with the Contax c/y 50/1.4.
