So at first I thought this was lens flare, then when it kept showing up on different pics I thought it might be my camera's LCD. Then I thought it was the CCD, but it's not there every shot. I am at home now and I can't replicate the problem with this lens or my other lens. Is it just flair? I shot these two pics under different conditions, surely the flair can't be in the same places?

This kind of thing has been asked about here before... as I recall it was a light leak, or possibly a damaged/misaligned/screwed up mirror. I can't remember which, but I'm sure somebody will chime in with the definitive answer.
If it's under warranty it should be covered. If it's not it will mean a repair bill.

In previous discussions, it was happening no matter which lens was mounted to the camera. I wish I could remember a unique keyword to search on, but it was a couple months ago.

I do remember one thread recently, but the effect was much more subtle than this. Can't recall a specific word in the title, so can't (effectively) search for it.

Sorry, but this is cause for alarm. When this showed up in the past, it was a warning of incipient shutter failure. It is related to the mirror, which is allowing light to leak into the image chamber (literally "camera"), so there might be failure modes where only the mirror mechanism fails, but in the two or three times I've seen it here, the shutter soon after failed.
Look at your shots and see if there is a correlation with shutter speed.

Hmmm... Interesting. I just bought it a few months ago so I do indeed have warranty (luckily). I have not dropped it or banged it (it's my baby) so I don't know what may have caused it.

Sucks to be me.
Took it to the store I bought it at (Henry's) and they said it needs to be sent back to Canon. 4-6 weeks was their estimate, but the sales guy told me it'd likely be 10 days. I have a wedding to shoot next weekend so I convinced him to get authorization for me to have a loaner, I find out on Monday wether or not I get it.
It just sucks because my new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 comes next week and I may not be able to use it.
