It is commonly underestimated on behalf of it's bigger brother 60/2.8 Makro Planar S,but I found it sharp and contrasty with plenty of 3D look in both close ups and distant shots departament.It is smaller and lighter than 60/2.8MPS, which makes it very handy - just perfect for handheld shooting.Here are couple of samples taken on NEX (not perfect examples but give some hint of what this lens is capable for):

Wow, I hope that the one I have coming is as good. I opted for the older S version, simply by chance rather than choice. 1:1 wasn't a prerequisite, more of what I am hoping for is high resolution & little distortion...

The S-Planar does 1:1 too, but the S-Planar C (compact) does 1:2.

The C version is more compact (that's what the C stands for) and only has 1:2 reproduction ratio. S-Planar is the older name and Makro-Planar is the name used for the later batches. If the C isn't in the name you'll have 1:1 (and a relatively big/heavy lens).

Thank you crazeazn.Adding up to what Benjamin wrote - Makro Planar C 60/2.8 is available in newer MM version (f22 printed in green).60MP S is only older AE version (f22 printed in white).Makro Planar C 60/2.8 is significantly smaller and lighter (not much bigger than 50/1.4 Planar).It takes also smaller 55mm filters not 67mm like MP S.
