i had the old distagon and it suffers haze too...i try several times to correct by micro regolation on mark 2 but unsuccesfully...the 3d was so beautiful, so great but although i continued to use it...i retry to reach the focus everytime again! the old contax hit the mirror at infinity.i hate to focus with liveview, a photographer can't shoot in live mode in my opinion. My trouble with the new lens is this, reach focus with the help of love view...1500€ lens in 2011 must be perfect not haze!!! i fear canon 35 1.4 can't reach zeiss in bokeh, but is sharp. what would you do if you were me? do you use live view? thanks so much.

Don't buy a lens, they are all not perfect

I would buy the ZF.2. Haze wide open is lovely, and anyway, it is not always there.

valid point on saturated colors.

However, In my limited experience (7 months with different CY/ZE glass), I have had difficulty seeing the differences in flat light though. They are there, but very hard for me to see them compared to situations in contrasty light.

carstenw you were right about the canon, it can't compare with Zeiss. today i try the canon it can't compare with zeiss...bokeh is orrible...so flat not a real 3D...i'll wait for zeiss came out in italy

Center crops from 21mp, default capture sharpening in LR, no export sharpening.

Thanks Philber. Unfortunately, I did not have time to make anything interesting with it yet.

First impressions:
* It is not as difficult to focus it as I expected based on LC's review
* Heavy and big
* It seems pretty sharp at f/1.4, but the blue channel has some glow that lowers the overall contrast and causes this purple coloring. I did not see any flaws at "landscape" f-stops so far.
* Overall better than EF35/1.4

I find the focus easier than 100MP, both in the viewfinder and in LV.

That's pretty sharp @1,4, more than L.C samples I think.

Here are a couple of quick test shots from this lens - just received it from B & H yesterday:

@ f/1.4:

And this is @ f/1.6:

It looks a bit soft wide open, but quickly sharpens up at f/1.6 and beyond.

Your thoughts?
