the 40mm on the CLE was my dream combo, that i really miss.

A black Fuji X101 with FF and and the 40mm 2.0 would be 100% perfect.

Thanks Nixland! I responded in the zeiss discussion thread. Thanks again for your thoughts on the Biotar 75/1.5 and for posting these two comparison shots. Wish my adapter would get here soon, so I don't have to free-lens it.

@Nixland, do you have a Exakta mount CZJ Biotar 85/1.5 or M42?
Mine is Exakta, and I am wondering what is a good adapter to EOS mount and get infinity focus?

Wayne, mine is M42 mount, the fat Biotar.
For exakta mount I don't know for sure. I read in some article that while it's no problem on the aps-c using exakta to EOS adapter, it needs some modification to avoid hitting mirror on 5D.

I was lucky I got it in near mint with more affordable price earlier this year

Distagon 28/2.8 MMJ mint with pouch,Planar 50/1.7 MMJ mint-,Sonnar 85/2.8 MMG mint as new,boxed with paperwork and pouch.

So now I have two 28/2.8,50/1.7 and 85/2.8 but just wanted to get mint replacement copies before they become hard to get.

Thanks! Yes it does. Anytime focusing above 5m stops it. Need to do more LV I'm afraid. Never ever have I longed more that the 5D2 was equipped with a tilt-screen...

Also, it seem *just* able to focus on infinity. I haven't been able to test it thoroughly yet. Is your ok with that? The rear element's frame must be touching the plastic parts around the mirror.

Infinity seems fine on my 1DIII, and my mirror was contacting the rear face of the rear element retaining ring, some filing cured my issue, but my friends 5D still had issues.

Just received a nice, tiny Pentax Super Multi Coated Macro Takumar 100 F4. Pretty respectful performance for under $200. Here's an initial test taken at F8 on the Sony a900. 100% crop below full image taken from the extreme top right corner. This performance is at least as good as that from a late Minolta 100 2.8 Macro D I just sold (and compared against).

I gush and blush about the Summicron R 50. I've used about 10 to 12 fifities over the years, and a finer general-purpose fifty doesn't yet exist, in my opinion.
