This is no silly camera. It's the famous Auto S2, one of my favorites.
ah well I was joking, I only shoot film you see, so I will be using this little guy. I paid literally 20 bucks shipped for this, and while the meter doesnt seem consitent the shutter speeds do and the rangefinder, while tinted blue, is very clear and still aligned. it's a big camera though! My OM-1 with a 28mm f3.5 attached is only very slightly longer, but is much shorter. Doesnt really bother me though

this is actually quite a nice lens considering what the going rate is. I got many nice shots of my dog running around with the lens, but zooms and teles are not to my liking so I dont use mine often anymore.

Yep, for $75 with an adapter I am quite pleased at how nice this lens is. Many thanks to fellow FMer 'benroy' for selling it to me.

industar-69 FSU half frame lens 28mm F2.8
got it for about $40 on ebay, straight from russia. It's made for a russian half frame camera from the 60's-80's. it vignettes a little but I dig the look on my epson R-d1. It's really small, even with the LTM/M adapter.

Got a Vivitar Series 1 800mm f/11 yesterday. And in the name of science I through in a Canon 2x II extender so I could try the 800 against my 400L5.6 at 800/11. Only had time to snap a few, but the solid cat is surprisingly sharp.
Why on Earth would I go and buy an other mirror tele after my experience with the 500/8 Mirotar less than a year ago? Well a few dacades ago when my beard was all dark, and my hair was, there was a large poster in a camerashop window with all the magnificent Vivitar tele lenses. I had a Tokina 400/5.6 on my AE-1 (Kodachrome 200) and there was that increadible short 800mm lens that left a need... Now I got it!

From my research in the past, the Questar 700mm was the mirror lens to beat. It had resolution and contrast figures that were basically double what all the other mirror lenses had.

Hi Z250SA,
Congratulations on your purchase. I had the Series 1 600/8 for a while. Very sharp and compact, but I really didn't like the donut bokeh, so I sold it. Now, my beard has considerably more grey in it, too, and I'm thinking a Series 1 450/4.5 might be nice. Sorry, I digress.
If you wouldn't mind, please tell me the vital statistics for your 800/11. This information is missing from the Lens price database, Lens$db: http://tinyurl.com/jcolwell-lensdb. In particular, I'd like to know these parameters; minimum focus distance (as stamped on the lens barrel), weight, length from the front-most edge to the plane of the mount, maximum diameter, and filter diameter (I assume it's a screw-on at the rear element, like my 600).
Cheers, Jim
P.S. I'm going to sea tomorrow morning, so forgive me if I'm out of touch for a while, as I'll be out of touch, for a while.

I was just looking at these on ebay the other day... good to know it wont vignette too strongly on the 1.5x ... I dont suppose you have tested it on a fullframe camera.

Carstenw, that was the first thing I tried. Who could resist a 1600mm f/22? But... the protruding element sadly and expectedly of the 2x hit the filter before it could connect with the lens. The Mutar I would work, but I donīt have the suitable pieces to puzzle it together. The lens "fastening ring" is a Nikon. So I use it with a Nikon to EOS adapter. Now if I could find a Contax "fastening ring" to use with the Mutar. Who could resist a 1600/22?
