We had a dog named Ninia, who was a Weimaraner. My dad and I picked it up from a guy he worked with a very, very long time ago when I was in grade school. I loved that dog. It was too inner closely bred and began circling the backyard and foaming at the mouth one winter. We had to have it taken away one night and my mom and I cried together as we sadly watched it go. Ninia was a great dog and used to eat popcorn with me on my bed. One morning, as I got out of bed and I went to my dresser in my bare feet, I stepped into a giant pile of cold you know what. MOM, I yelled! Pleasant memories of my youth, mixed with the sad. Very nice pics and thanks for posting.

Thank you Zesto and Vitamina for your pleasant post.

I had a very nice Canon 200mm f2.0 IS in the past and I was a little worryed to miss that lens to switch to Nikon but I do not regret now...

My daughter taken with my Nikon 200mm f2.0 AF-S VR1
still mounted on a D300s
iso 200 - 1/320 s

Fantastic portraits (and lovely model) !
IMHO these great pictures deserve a better adjustment of the white balance. It seems there is too much green (for my taste).

Thank you Lieutenant Z, alias l'oiseau de nuit, that is very kind of you.

Très belles scènes urbaines de nuit à la lumière des lampadaires également et très bonnes compositions !

You are right, I am not the best guy when it is time to play with WB etc.

I live in Montreal since 2004 but I am originally from Rennes (dept 35- Bretagne)

Talk you soon,

Éric.

Hi Eric and thanks for your kind words.
I live in Nancy right now but I'm from Angers so I well know the Bretagne.
Outre d'utiliser du Nikon nous avons en commun d'avoir des filles blondes aux yeux bleus qui semblent avoir le même âge à peu de chose près!. La votre est vraiment ravissante et les photos sont superbes!
I'll look forward to seeing you on the thread !
Sincerely
Philippe.

devillars22,

stunning pictures of your daughter how many times has she been mistaken for Grace Kelly? and I'm being serious; she is just beautiful and I think #1 is the most compelling by reason of her facial expression, notably her eyes.

I never knew the 200/2 VR could be such an incredible portrait lens

Hello Tony,
Hello Philippe,

Thank you very much for your kind words.

My daughter is 10 years old only and I think that is the first time I hear that point of comparison with Grace Kelly. Thank you for your pleasant remark.

About the "stunning pictures", thank you again.
I greatly appreciate however remember that the 200/2 VR helps a lot.

As I told, I find this lens very versatile and you can easily use it handheld with VR
More over it is still very nice with the TC-17E II when needed.

Here is another sample from a Gannet / "Fou de Bassan" (with blue eyes too)
taken with

Holy Birdman what a shot. The second one is very nice also

sure glad I stayed with Nikon, LZ,

best to you both,

My wife is thoroughly confused. "Wow - that's a BIG lens, it must really bring things close!"

Me "Well, yeah, but not as close as this one" (hands over 70-300mm zoom)

"Um, so then why does it cost so much more?"

Me "Well, it's really FAST. But, um, not as fast as this one" (hands her styrofoamy feeling $200 50G)

"So why do you need it?"

Me "Um....I really don't. But you're gonna LOVE the pictures, and it's cheaper than renting the damn thing"

First pictures of her singled out on a busy city sidewalk...."Wow"

Me "Yeah. Wow. This is going to be fun."
