Ive taken a new interest in studio lighting for portraits, and id love to see some of your at home or professional setups, just to get an idea of what I could do and how to set things up correctly. plus I think it would be cool to see! Post them up!
It is around 40x60 and the ceiling height ranges from 14-16 feet. We will have a finished wall area and a brick wall area. The floors are very worn out and we're placing 3/4" tongue and groove OSB over half of the space. We're also looking into heating options too.
We hope to get most things taken care of for a grand opening in February!

stratoknight,
Is that building structurally sound? The top photo makes it look like the building is bent or has a crease in it.
I thought the same thing when I saw the 1st image. Thought it was an abandoned.
But after seeing the pictures from the inside that studio looks like it is going to be amazing. Where is the US is it?
Yeah, I just hate to see someone pour money into a building that might have problems. I spent about 20K rewiring and renovating an old building studio years before I ran into some insurmountable structural / code issues. Sucked.

Here is mine...Seems to work just fine for my needs now.
What are the dimensions?
I need to get some bifold doors; they seem to be very popular as scrims. I have some foam insulation sheets, but they're not rigid enough to be self-supporting.
The crease that you see from the photo is of the slight incline built into the roof. Looking at the support beams you can see the roof slant. I am sure that it is supposed to be there.
As far as structurally sound, it survived the big quake that we had here and this studio is full of 12x12 wooden beams. I suppose time will tell. Also with the electrical issues of older buildings... we routed a new line onto our floor.
Our current agreement has renovation clauses that allow part of the rent to be used for capital projects like this! So far we've been able to keep it relatively wallet friendly.
Gorgeous studio Sid. Very clean, organized, and neat it is what I envision my pro studio looking like versus my basement one now. Are those North Facing windows?

They are, but I hardly use natural light, ha!
My studio is hardly "boutique" (we have a few in my area), but I like to keep it simple and comfortable. I always make an effort to keep it clean with I have client meetings, so that when they come in for the shoot, it looks like a transformation has taken place.
