A6000 with 18-200 at the ball game from the stands. These are just a few from a series that I took. The small package went toe to toe with all the other fancy gear around me. I also had the 70-300 Sony with LAE2 and the Canon 70-200 with IS and adapter but I preferred the the 18-200 for its focusing speed.

Abrahavt, great stuff from the stands. Nice compact image maker that doesn't make you stand out. I have really been enjoying the 6000.

taran, really like your work here. You always do a great job capturing moments!

zephoto, those image rock! Really like the look and feel you have captured!

A few images from this morning, all with the Zeiss 24 1.8. I am pretty sure I can just leave this lens on, with the A6000, and call it good. Really happy with this combination.

Love the images from this thread, renting the camera to try it out this week. Hopefully I can contribute to this thread and like the camera enough for a purchase!

@kingfisher - just a heads up, this is the NEX thread, not the Canon FD thread. Nice photos!

Season of Summer Light
Week 22, Wednesday - Swinging
"It's a nice little portrait of Aura, but it also represents my habit of repeating a certain visual motif when photographing her. If you have ever tried to take nice photographs of children of yours or someone's else's you surely know it. It's a portrait of the with a nice nature background. The child stands there in her/his colorful clothes with a happy smile and has a eye contact with a camera. There are of course lot's of variations of this visual motifs (my picture being one of them), but they all represent the child in a same way surrounded by 'childhood happiness' and the more I think about it, the more I feel uneasy about it. Picked up an NEX-6 from a forum member so I could expand to E-mount reviews more easily. Picked up a Sigma 30 on the cheap as well. Very pleasantly surprised by the 30mm....it's a very, very good lens optically. The Sony controls still don't really jive well with me, but the 6 is 'ok' in that department.

Just some test shots:

I woul really like to see a test of the Sony 1.8/35 against the Fuji 1.4/35, everybody is raving about the Fuji but at least the Potozone Data looks better for the Sony lens.

Be careful comparing photozone's stuff between systems. The 35/1.8 was tested on the NEX-7, so using a 24MP sensor. Therefore the baseline numbers are inherently higher (3000 is amazing on a 16MP sensor, but only 'very good' on a 24MP sensor). I don't know what's going on with photozone's XF 35/1.4 either....mine is significantly sharper in the corners stopped down than what they're indicating.

Looking as a percentage of maximum resolution, they seem to be relatively close at comparable apertures. I'd wager the the Sony has an edge on the image borders at wide apertures, but the Fuji looks a little sharper in the center. Probably not much to pick between stopped down.

I will say, the Sigma 30/2.8 is sharper than my Fuji 35 with both at f/2.8. I'm incredibly impressed with this little lens. (Photozone agrees...it broke their resolution record when tested). After shooting with the NEX-6 a fair bit last night and this morning...I still don't like the controls and ergonomics, but the image quality is quite good - not going to sway me from my main Fuji kit, though. I've got the Zeiss 16-70 coming tomorrow for review so that should be fun.

Here are some shots from this morning, all with the Sigma 30.

It's the new one in silver. Looks a lot nicer in person than it does in pictures, though the focus ring (which is shiny) is prone to fingerprints. The back half is a matte finish, so it's a nice two tone look. Both the smooth and matte are metal, though. In pictures I thought they were plastic.

One question for all NEX shooters, though: it seems the actual camera mount bayonet flanges are plastic..and looking at pictures this seems to extend even to the A7/R. I've never in my life seen a camera with plastic mount flanges...has anyone had issues with durability?

It's easy to see the flaws of the SEL16F28 in the corners. Still, fun to have a setup so small that can catch the Milky Way.

No problems with durability so far.I still use 2xNEX5N with about 40k actuactions each and one NEX7 with 15k approximately. The only problem is peeling off rubber grip on the NEX7.

Having used the camera for three days so far I am very impressed. It is going to be my new general purpose cam. If Sony's A7s is a great as it looks on paper and is great as this camera, I may be switching away from Nikon bodies.
