I have still both here, still the NEX-7 and the A6000. The 16-70 works very good on both. It is not an extremely sharp lens though, but is very good. Except that my 16-70 is decentered. Which means it is soft on one extreme border. One thing I notice on A6000 is that higher ISOs are not soft like on other cams.

I bought a 16-70 for my Nex cameras a while ago but returned it. I may have got a lemon but I was also not impressed.

Season of Tilt
Week 17, Saturday - Intersection
"Today I donít have much to say. Iím still trying to figure out what Iím searching with Lensbaby lenses. One thing I can say that itís difficult and maybe even unnecessary to utilize Lensbaby lenses with casual shooting. With the picture Iíve shared today, Iíve tried to solve this by shooting direct into sun, which often makes things look out of the ordinary by itself. [...]"

Are you shooting in camera HDR mode? There's something about the images that look a bit soft or plastic?

Not meant as an insult or anything like that in any way.

They are single RAW, but a bit processed in Photoshop.

Just to give an idea. This one is nearly unprocessed out of Lightroom: Charlottenburg castle. Contax G45/[email protected], ISO100, 1/160s, built-in fill flash.

And that's it with processing in Photoshop:

Enjoy,
Stefan

Can someone tell me if the "Zoom" view on their A6000 is now a two step process vs NEX 6/7? On N6 and N7 when I hit zoom it brought me to my designated af zone zoomed in at 5X... now, when I hit the zoom button, it shows the AF area first, and then forces me to hit the zoom button again to actually get zoomed in.

This is a deal breaker for me unfortunately and have to return the camera if that is the case, as it ruins my workflow and creates too many problems switching between cameras (I use primarily MF lenses for work).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Taran: I have led the live fire zoom on the C2 button. This one I have to push first and then the central button in the dial.

Here's more: Touit 12/[email protected], 1/160s

Za16-70/4 [email protected], f7.1, 1/320s.

Enjoy,
Stefan

Thanks for the heads up. This is a disaster for me. I thought I was missing something but it looks like the one button behavior of the NEX has been replaced by a two button press on Alpha. Makes MF lenses unusable for my style of shooting. Grrr...

I was annoyed by it on my a7 in the beginning but I got used to it after several thousand shots when I had the timing for the double press right.

Yeah, I don't have an a6000, but I thought this was going to be a disaster on the A7, and it has turned out to be not a big deal. The key is to get the zoom matched to a nice stiff button (which available on the a7), so that the double-click is pretty much instantaneous.

Season of Tilt
Week 18, Wednesday - Favour for a friend
"It's funny how subliminal ways advertising can affect one's photographic eye. Neither I or my friend wanted the result to look like some product photography to sell motorbike accessories, but so it does (and partly because my friend wanted to keep his helmet on knowing I would share this picture here). Hah! While this is not exactly a my kind of photography, I think it's still a decent and shows a bit Lensbaby's potential for product photography. [...]"
