freaklikeme - thanks for the pics. Very interesting how variable the shift is. Usually when I get shift that strong in some of my shots, it's still noticeable in others (meaning with other lenses, no personal experience with that one).

The results, color shift aside, look pretty good. I think if I didn't already have the Elmarit 28 I'd be looking at getting the ZM25.

Anytime, and yes, with the exception of the Elmarit 24, that's been my experience as well. I don't have a shot with the pre-ASPH Elmarit 21 or CV 15 that don't show the shift, regardless of focusing or subject distance. Which version of the Elmarit are you using?

yeah, i probably would have been freaked out if the effect were less dramatic. i could really see the distortion happening in front of me without the camera.

i was fooling around and broke the picture into 4 little pieces (all basically 100% crops) that i kinda like:

I like the first one. The background kind of kills the second one for me. This one feels like a game. "Spot the vaguely pornographic elements."

Agree with freaklikeme about the colour shift with the Biogon.
Close by it performs quiet well on the NEX as you can see in the tractor series.
Well I am glad I tryed it but I must say I overall prefer the lens on the GXR.

Where it is very obvious also is with surfaces like the next picture.

This one is a 5 image stich at infinity. I tryed to stich them before doing PP on each photo individually.
You see a dark vertical line above the bush. I tryed to get rid of it but it was beyond my skills in ACR.

Interesting. I wonder what causes that behavior.

I agree, though the trade off with the GXR, aside from resolution, is that you'll be correcting for moire instead of color shift. Even on the 7, moire is an issue with this lens (it's evident in every highlighted bit of fence on my first infinity shot). I really wish the GXR made me want to use it, but perfect corners just aren't enough to make me want to bring it instead of the 7.

And, yeah, there's no way to get around correcting the shift first before stitching. It's just like vignette correction, if you don't do it before stitching, you will likely never get it corrected on the full image.

Nice. And it is tiny, particularly compared to the Biogon. What would you say its strengths and weaknesses are on the NEX?

Hmm.

+ great colors
+ high contrast
+ tiny
+/- f/2.8 is good but can feel a bit limiting some times
+/- strong vignetting at f/2.8, I generally like that though
+/- 42mm effective FL is good; I like it better than 50mm I think in general, but close to 35/36mm (I don't have a 24 that I use right now, though, so I guess that's moot).
- high contrast, when it's overcast around here it just takes some work to make the image not look like all white and black
- needs cornerfix on the 7 (but not on the 5N or 6)
- I like ZM-style focus "nubs" better than these poky tabs on the Leicas. The only ergonomic thing I don't like about them really.

Just picked up a few lenses in a Brussels flea market - MC Tele Rokkor 135/3.5, MC W.Rokkor 28/3.5, Minolta Variable Auto Teleplus 2x/3x + Tube (all in original faux-leather zipped cases!) + Vivitar (28xxxx Komine-made) 70-200/4 in FD mount. All glass dusty but flawless, after a haw/rub of my shirt - and all for a grand total of Euro 50.

Can't google any hard info on the 135/3.5 - all MC versions I've found are QF (very different looking lens), but mine looks almost identical, but not quite, to the MD version. Has built-in hood. Initial 135 shots, wide open or a half-stop down:

Thistle by specularist, on Flickr

Maybe f5.6 or f8:

Closed the hood & aimed upward toward sun for this, wide open, just to see how it coped (sky was mix of cloud and bright sun):

Wild flowers, grass by specularist, on Flickr

Bit of purple fringing to remove in pp, otherwise seems pretty good, if I can hold it steady! The Rokkor 28/3.5 and Vivitar both seem very sharp from initial snaps. I wonder how the tele-extender will work?

Almost looks like one of the exposures was lower then the others, maybe try another stitching program to rule out ACR.

Sehfehler - nice set.The last one is my favorite. Not sure if you added the vignette or not, but it might look better if you devignetted it for an even exposure even on the edges.

Well seen LightShow! Thanks!

I reworked the file, there were even three different exposures in there and I tryed to match them.
Did some more PP on the induvidual files up front now.
In Photomerge again because I do not have another stich program right now.
It looks a bit better now. Still margenta in the air.
