Just wanted to share a few shots from a shoot I did with my friend/model Brittany the other day. Would've like to have explored this idea a lot further and do some more creative things. But it was about 20 degrees outside with a 2 degree wind chill that day. So needless to say, we didn't stay out very long. Oh well, hopefully will be able to explore this idea again in the spring.
1, 5, 6, 8, I like a lot. The I others I potentially like but have distracting elements on the foreground of corners that take your eye away from the subject. Some could be cropped out. Some should have perhaps been tighter or taken from a slightly different angle. She's a beautiful model though, and the red looks striking against the snow.
I like your theme a lot. I wouldn't change anything about the exposures. The only thing I would change is the use of the axe as a prop. But it does present a contrast of innocence and brutality. Personally, a shepard's crook would be more my style. You may be too young to recall the song, "Little Red Riding Hood" by Sam The Sham and the Pharoahs.
Great shots. I love #2 and #4. I love how she pops. Very glossy and cool. Can you provide a little more info on what you used to shoot these? Lights, setup, camera, lens, etc.?
This is so ironic. I just ordered a long velour cloak with with a red riding hood, LOTR type of shoot I wanted to do. It arrived this morning in the post and I was thinking of some creative shooting ideas, so I this is great inspiration, thanks!
I like the look and the idea, the girl makes a good LRRH but the woods are hardly very spooky and IIRC that is part of the story (although maybe not). It looks like about 3 pm on a December afternoon. So if you are intent on keeping away from PP and leaving things SOOC and "Natty" (that's a new one on me!) but want a spookier look you'd need to adjust your lighting balance. Or not, if you like it that way, its your pic not mine
#1 and #4 offer more visual impact for me. I dig the lighting - especially in #4.
I do agree with the earlier poster - when you get more time to explore this you could add some more storytelling to the mix. I'm not suggesting going all Rian Flynn ;-) .... but you could add the hint of menance of her being watched, etc by compositional changes.
