2.8 or do you mean 2.4? I have plenty of from the 2.4. One of the best lenses I have ever used.

Oh I see there is a 2.4 also. M42 mount? Could I see some pics?

This is the one you're looking for - Flektogon 35/2.4 MC - M42 - for the age of the lens it's very sharp and contrasting - they usually sell arount $200-250 usd - the modern Zeiss 35/2 will have a higher IQ but at 3-4 time the price. The Jena 35/2.8 has a lower IQ but still pretty good.

That might be the one to get for sure. I want the 35l but this will give me a opportunity to shoot manual. Use it for video and see if I like the focal length..

Yes, the image is from the Flek 35 2.4 and I don't remember the F-stop. Likely F8.

Too late, the price went up years ago. I believe I paid about $140 when I bought mine. I since sold it which I now regret.

If you get a good copy, the lens is really outstanding. Just be careful when purchasing as the aperture blades are sticky on some copies (basically, they get stuck!) which requires removal and cleaning. I had to do this with mine and it was in mint condition. I believe I ended up using graphite on the aperture mechanism and after a bit of exercise, all was fine. So, the optics are superb but the build quality leaves a little to be desired.

sure you can, just need to buy the chipped adapter.

This lens is really a bargain considering that the next best thing is really the Leica summicron 35mm version 2 ( pre ROM )

I don't remember about the 5D original I had. I think it did but I never used or relied on it as I believe I recall it having a fairly large range of focus where the light stayed on.

A slightly better lens is the German Zeiss Rollei 35 2.8 but the rolleis can be troublesome with regard to adapters and infinity focus. Compared to the Flektogon, the Rollei Zeiss has a lot more contrast and is tack sharp into the very extreme corners of the frame. The Flektogon has a little softer contrast but in exchange you get very subtle hue/color reproduction and of course the extreme Macro capability. I ran a test of a bunch of 35's years ago and these two came out on top.

I think the Flektogon's weakness is the corners at apertures < 5.6. Probably the same as my CZJ Pancolar 50/1.8.
