That dragonfly image is extraordinary Ronny and shows how well the 180mm 2.8 ED does at close in images.

Wow, that dragonfly image with the 180mm AI-S is impressive.

Would you know if the AF version of that lens (8/6 formula) come anywhere close to being as good as the AI-S (5/5 formula) for macro work with rings?

Thanks. The Citroens of the era all had air suspension, I recall seeing them in the UK, the rear raising up when the driver turned the key.

I did use a polariser but still couldn't remove all the reflections for the steering wheel shot but kinda liked the reflections of the old pumps.

Here's another Citroen, not as good looking but it did have a Maserati engine !

I've been out of town and out of touch for a few days, but enjoyed catching up. I've especially enjoyed all of the flower photos everyone has been posting.

It's kind of hard to see, but this is a Civil War cannon at Rocky Face Ridge Park in Dalton, GA.

somewhat mixed feelings about the lens performance
Most test more but plenty CA wide open..but it's probably quite ok, sometimes maybe not everything older gets so well from 42MP all the time

The 63mm f2.8 (N) EL-Nikkor showed up today. It really is a gorgeous lens. Will try and capture that beauty in the next few days. Meanwhile here are more Daffodils with the Nikkor-P ai'd 180mm f2.8 and 20mm extension.

Thanks, Buddy. Those look like some finely crafted dice, indeed! I'm guessing mammoth ivory is quite pricey, considering that it must have extremely limited availability.

Glen, indeed mammoth ivory sells at around $1/gram of ivory at the moment. In Europe the only source for usable mammoth ivory is Syberia, and since the Russian/Ukraine conflict, almost none of that is getting out of Russia. Even without the conflict, the arwea in Syeria where mammoth ivory can be excavated from the permafrost is so remote that the workers travel there at the end of Autumn, when the swamps surrounding the area are frozen up and can be crossed by trucks. They then stay there during winter, spring and summer until the swamps and rivers freeze up again. Any excavated mammoth ivory is transported from the site by the transports bringing new work crew and picking up the tired and ill.
