Jay, ^that's one of your very best images I've seen so far. Love the muted tones and "traces of color".

+1 Very nice work once again from the "Fog Master".... the barely visible light in the room upstairs is a nice touch!
Welcome to more new members to the thread.... can't have too many MFNG addicts! Now that we've returned to Oz, I've had time to review and process (LR5) the rest of our trip to Hong Kong and Macau. Here are a few more from those amazing cities....

The first image is of the pool at the Wynn Hotel Casino in Macau. The 16mm f3.5 non-ai never ceases to amaze me with its sharpness..

Next is a colourful puppet show on display outside our hotel in Macau...

This capture with the Leighton Lens makes me wonder if the use of "English Words" often misspelled, is to entice foreigners into the store...

I loved the colourful architecture at the Po Lin Monastery in Ngong Ping...

Thanks and thanks Ken too ... will follow my PT for sure.

PT is an experience all right! The nice petite lady who is in charge of my care is 65, is a hundred pounds lighter and foot shorter than me. She bends my ankle and knee like a "pro wrestler" and has me down for a "3" count. But you got to listen!

Me, too. Back in May my wife and I were cruising in her new V-Dub Turbo Bug convertible (she was driving) when I suffered the first seizure of my life. The search for a cause revealed a golf ball-sized tumor just inside the bone covering my frontal lobe. Had n idea it was there -- the seizure was my first symptom. The tumor was an easy fix -- as brain surgery goes, I guess -- but

Wow Henry ! Just goes to show, the old maxim "there's always someone worse off than yourself" !

2 weeks ago I CPU'd 2 of my beloved lenses.

This is just to share the step by step procedure
(so easy in those lenses that do not require no machining, just a good epoxy):

"CPUing" old Nikkors - part I by labecoaves, on Flickr

Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 ais (left) and Nikkor-HC 50mm f/2 ai'd (right);
CPU positioning before aplication of glue (epoxy).

"CPUing" old Nikkors - part II by labecoaves, on Flickr

Top to bottom:
marking edges of CPU; epoxi glue; putting small quantity of epoxy; Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 ais and Nikkor-H.C 50mm f/2 ai'd with glued CPUs. Waiting 24 h before using lenses on camera is recommended.
All shots with D600 + Micro-Nikkor 105/2.8 ais.

More detailed info for those interested in Pindelski's excellent site:
http://pindelski.org/Photography/2012/03/08/adding-a-cpu-to-mf-nikkor-lenses-part-i/

And the debut shots wide open, both lenses mounted on a D600:

Debut shots of Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 ais (left) and Nikkor-HC 50mm f/2 ai'd (right) after the lenses were CPU'd. by labecoaves, on Flickr

Debut shots of Micro-Nikkor 55/2.8 ais (left) and Nikkor-HC 50mm f/2 ai'd (right), both wide open, after the lenses were CPU'd.

I am IN LOVE, I really liked my older 20mm UD, but by using it without ai conversion had to either let the rabbit ear move the ai tab on the camera or use exposure compensation, it did mount and work, but getting the right exposure was iffy.

I LOVE the new one that is ai converted and works great on my cameras. Totally usable at 3.5.

This lens is SUPER SHARP in the center with great depth of field fully open, it softens towards the corners partly due to field curvature, but it is more flat field than the 15s or the 18.

it also has good OOF rendition front and back and handles the urban night ligt well. This lens also holds sharpness in the D800 all the way down to f/16.

Latest macros from the garden. I always try to discover something new, bugs that I haven't seen before in the garden even if I have seen them elsewhere. At some point of course this may prove impossible but at the moment I can even if it is an Instar of typical bugs.

1. This 1st bug was one such insect. A 5th Instar of Amblypelta lutescens, or Fruit-spotting Bug. The 2 black eyes with the white rings around them on it's back are believed to be a defence mechanism by mimicking a jumping spider's primary pair of eyes. Notice the as yet unformed wings.

_DSC2705 by AndyMacDougallPhotography, on Flickr

2. An adult version (may not be the exact same species) - see the wings are now fully formed.

_DSC2680 by AndyMacDougallPhotography, on Flickr

3. They call these "Love Bugs" here, I think because they fly around coupled together in coitus. Also called the honeymoon fly, 2 headed fly. The Australian species is "Plecia Wiedemann" 1828.

_DSC2685 by AndyMacDougallPhotography, on Flickr

4. Another bug I haven't seen before, thought it was a beetle but now believe it's the nymph of another plant/sap sucker. Check out those cool triangular eyes !

I was away three days for work and so many pages! Impossible to catch up.
Good news from me is that my shoulder needs only rest .... Bad news is that it means basically limited camera time, especially with the new (old) 300 :-(

Some day yet I will get beyond counter top photography. But in the meanwhile here's a combo that wanted to pose for a snap.

Nikon F2S (circa 1976) with an early version PC-Nikkor 35mm f2.8 (circa 1972) mounted.

Photo taken with 85 1.8HC ("Nikki's sister") and D800.

Hien, lovely focus on the lotus. Wonderful color!

Rafael, I want to spend a few days on that street you find all those classic cars on Great demo of the 20 3.5 UD wide open. Morbonz was special, so was Hispanic History Month. And your gear shots are one of the worst offenders on this thread in creating NMFAS

Andy, very striking pic of the bug with the eyes on its back.

Jose, nice demo of your CPU-ing technique. And looks like a twin selfie there?

Ken, looks like you have company on this thread. Wish you, Dean and Henry all a speedy recovery!

John, the glacier looks to be losing the battle with warming.

Steve, enjoyable classic aircraft pics. I especially liked the Trident flight deck.

Henry, what did you do to McDonalds

Georg, very interesting perspective with your stitched image of that old church and the wall! And I liked the cormorant landing on the yellow cross. I happen to think cormorants are photogenic Nice view of the chandelier.

Jay, very interesting night photo! Really like the shadows.

Reagan, what happened Is the sell button on your ebay account not working? Neat lineup.

Carl, balancing act with the leaf was very neat.

Ric, terrific signs!

Chuong, nice portrait of the little one. Great smile!

Andrew, first one (twins?) is a great pair of smiles. Terrific demo of the ageless 105 Nikkor.

It's tough to quit, learn to forgive yourself and try again if you fail. Took me five tries ten years ago, haven't touched one since. What worked for me was knowing the times I'm most likely to light up, which was behind the wheel of the truck//car. If I put the pack behind the seat, then it was difficult to get to them. Urge hit, wait five minutes, urge goes away cause I can't pull over.
