Beautifully crisp image John, love it. Did you add any sharpening?

Thanks Leighton - I've been quietly admiring your images for a while now as well.

Just some very mild sharpening in ACR when I modified the images initially.
Then some very weak sharpening in PS after the stitching. Then a bit upon size reduction.

Actually, two of the images used in the stitching are not very sharp at the pixel level because I had the shutter speed too low for hand holding, but you can't really tell due to the image size I ended up with. 1/60sec is too low for a 45mm on the D800, especially while hiking.

I was not happy with that pano for some technical reasons, so I make another version stitched in PTGUI Pro instead of CS6:

Sorry Leighton but the combination of rain and the fact I was heading to Sue's condo to paint closets led me to leaving my camera in my car. We took Sue's car which was loaded with supplies for the condo. But we did stop at the market and loaded up with produce and some locally caught King salmon we enjoyed for dinner. We are always shocked by how good the prices are... and today we bought strawberries that are the best I've ever tasted... organic grown in Watsonville near the Pacific Ocean. They remind me of wild strawberries i picked

Thanks Curtis. I replied to your email.

Hope Sue gets in her condo soon, before she wears you out!

A couple more pics from Wales, we stayed in Bedgelert which has a legend "used" (stolen? adapted?) for the start of "Bram Stoker's Dracula" film starring Gary Oldman directed by Francis Ford Coppola iirc.

http://www.beddgelerttourism.com/gelert/

Anyway, pretty village with lovely local stone buildings, small river and narrow stone bridge.

Andy

thanks for the great pictures Andy - I follow your travels with interest!
Synchronicity strikes again. Our whippet, also called Gelert, after the legendary Welsh hound, ended his long days just a week ago, one month short of his 15th birthday. Here is one of the last photos I took of him (trusty 105mm f2.5 AI), just two weeks ago, when a couple of younger lady whippets came to stay. It really cheered him up.

RIP Gelert.

Lester incredible bee! Thanks for your sepia processing explanation.

Reagan in the interest of everyone I waited until she left ... the Fuji dilemma, how come your wife has it? Glad to see to back!

John your "Eight Mile " lake capture and processing made my day yesterday. Very well done!

Samy nice treatment of Arlington. Well done .. very respectful of the site and its purpose.

Raphael the rusted truck carcass may not be your usual but still very good.

Curtis the rain has played a role here too! I've been carrying a dry bag just in case. I am posting a yellow flower that your post a few days ago inspired. Trying the extension tubes just for something to do and new stuff to shoot.

Laura, I get up at 0430 too ... but not to talk to you guys I spent my entire career up at 0500, a beautiful time of day.

Andy I cannot tell you how good I think your treatment of the Welch village is The tones and subtleness of the colors come right through.

James, sorry of you loss.

Tomorrow if there is time I'll shoot some with my new lens Adorama shipped out late last week and I am anxious to see how it does. The sole good thing about being house bound is that I am not spending any money ... no going out to eat etc. The new found cash surplus went for the 55 3.5 and reversing rings and I bought a very nice 43-86 later Ai off eBay yesterday that is to get here Thursday. I liked the one I used with my F2, though a bit soft was very useful over the years.

I caught two shots yesterday before the rain with the 55mm 3.5 and the PK13 tube. It's difficult getting close enough to make the shot from this chair but the advantage is the "eye level" view is something to get use to. Thanks for the likes and the comments and hope the new ones get CC'd by you that have been doing it for years.

Hope that helps

Ryan, great market series.

John, lovely Eight Mile Lake pano. Nice colors and composition.

Samy, your Arlington images are beautifully captured.

Andy, lovely compositions. FWIW, they are displaying a tad dark on my monitor.

Ken, nice flower captures

Steve, that last aircraft image has some birds uncomfortably close to the engines.

James, sorry for your loss. These canine companions are such a big part of our lives.

Thank you for the comments and likes on my images.

Steve - love the second one !!!

I was looking at a wide prime and I am/was amazed to see how high the prices are of the nikkor 15/3.5 considering that I do not read many good things on the latest crop od digital (especially compared to the cheap Samyang 14). Is there something I am missing here?

both taken at f1.2

i still may be in the hunt for a 50mm f1.2 - this 55mm just sorta landed on my Df!

The right lens for the right camera Low... 55 f/1.2 S.C. is a fine lens and the Df will accept it without conversion. Add to that the D4 sensor and you have perfection... Lovely images are sure to follow... With two subjects like this, much loved for sure, you will be a busy person. Have fun...
