Peter, the creek looks on my display like I could touch it. Excellent nature-detail!

Kristian, that's strange! From the serial number it should be an all metal design but from the body it looks like a K version.

Mine looks like this:

Kristian, I like your family-shots a lot. The Kullaberg-coast too. Great to see another B&W-afficionado here ;-)

Ram, lovely picture of the little feet! B&W works extremely well.

Ken, I like the more graphical/painterly qualities of your "Florida peaks"-set.

Ronny, superbe close-ups!

Andy, wow, stunning macro-shots!

Thanks for the kind words on the "Swedish summer rain"!

Francesco - my simple receipt for shooting rain is to get some backlight and to shoot against a rather dark background. Shutter-speeds between 1/15 and 1/60 seconds work pretty well.
In this case it was just a very short and vigorous summer-rain, some minutes later the sun was already back and shining.

Panorama time again - two fresh stitches, both with the 20mm f/3.5 AI, vertical frames for about 180 or a little more degrees. Both taken on the same day, first one early morning, second one in the evening. The tasty stream photo above was about half way in between these two places.

Trail into Fish Valley from Rainbow Falls
f/5.6 1/200s ISO 400 handheld, 7 frames

The biggest of the Lost Keyes Lakes in the evening - tons of little skeeters in the image that can be seen in original size. First I thought I had a new type of oil spot to remove, but then I could actually make out some wings on one that was particularly close to the lens

f/8.0 1/250s ISO 400 tripod, 8 frames

Burke, great shots! I like the first one the most.

One question about the 20/3.5 Ai: how good is it? I have been wanting to get one for some time now and today one just came up for sale and I already messaged the seller. What would be a good price to get it for?

I got mine for $99 and it's great for that price. It's no Zeiss 21mm substitute. Not very sharp at infinity, but at short to medium range it is acceptably sharp. Nothing like the 16mm f/3.5, which obliterates this lens in sharpness. Other than that, I only really use it because it takes filters and is so lightweight. It's a "backpacking Nikkor" for me mostly until I can afford the Zeiss.

How does it compare to the 24/2.8 Ai in terms of infinity sharpness, do you know?

I have the 24mm f/2.8 AIS, but rarely ever use it. I can't remember when I last took it out on the D600 to shoot outside. can't really say how sharp it is.

KenHill on p 4170 you mention zone focusing with you DF. Do you zone focus most of the time with this camera or is it just one of the many tricks in your bag, thanks and pictures look great! joanlvh

Would the spreadsheet I've been using to track MF lens prices be a benefit to the new site? Is there plans to have some pricing information along with reviews?

Looks exactly the same as mine Kristian which is an Ai not an Ais S/N 403xxx. Yours is the earlier pre-Ai version according to the S/N, made between 1971 and 1973. That is listed as having a min aperture of f22 though but presumably has the factory conversion ring the only goes to f16 ?
Does it have 7 or 9 iris blades ? that is the difference between the earlier pre-Ai and the Ai

Just briefly saying "Hello y'all!" after a busy and tiring day. Don't want to leave without to congrat Kristian for his fine work in B/W, also to mention that master piece from Philippe! Great mood, light, composition... wow!

Good to be around to learn from you guys!

Congrats Peter! This is a great looking lens and a star of MF Nikkors. Mine is very tired and beaten but still provides great pictures!
