I like writing Monday, so if you don't mind that's what I'm calling you!

Great first set of images. I love street shooting, I just don't have the opportunity to do much. These are all wonderful, I especially like the second one.

Keep them coming.

We had supper at our youngest daughter and her husbands house last evening. The second one is a view of the Allegheny mountains on the way home. Taken with the 35mm f1.4 AIS.

Thanks. How do you line the ais28/2.8? It is one of my favourite lenses. I hope it stops raining (it is days now) to go out and do a little tour with it and/or the 50.

PS: thanks for the comments on the 135. I discovered it has a little haze on the rear elements ... so I am rather unsure about it.

Nuno good looking shots from the last set. The BW suits the lens and your style.

Kevin comfortable looking doggie! How's everything with you, with hopes things are well!

Jay, all right I'll bite. Old Faithful ... where is it?

Curtis I can barely make out the person in the field but id adds the perspective to the awesome slope of the pasture.

Monday, the lens craft and selection of subject matter is great. Welcome!

Raphael you continue to impress. Ditto what Ray said!

Ray the lens assembly is a fine one. I am posting some shots of Tuesdays night sky that had me think that we were "Under the Dome." The sunset and the moon made for a more interesting sky than photos of it.

It seems the moon was to the east and the sunset to the west and where the light met is something I have never seen ... using the D800 and the 35-70 3.5mm I felt like a storm chaser to get the shots.

So for what it's worth my unplanned foray into meteorology shots. Pardon the five shot series to get the story across!

As many of you saw a few days back I was looking for a wide-ish angle lens as my first manual focus. A few of you came to my rescue with options, but Curtis being the kind man he is offered up a more price efficient 28 2.8 ais option. After reading into it it seemed to fit the bill perfectly to what I was looking for int he right price range.

Crazy phenomenon Ken ! never seen anything like that before.

Being back in the uk wouldn't have been complete without a visit to the zoo.

Ken great photos using the 100-300. You are correct it is a great lens even if it is a little difficult to manage. That sky was amazing. I just assumed that it was the air mass from the east coast merging with the sea breeze from the west. I never thought about the moon causing it

Kevin that's one of your best shots!

Jay it is great to see you crisscrossing the country taking photos. That would be the way I would like to retire. Great photos

Mike terrific night sky

Curtis a well spotted photo perfectly framed

Andy you might consider making a coffee table book out of all of those amazing flowers.

Monday so glad to have you aboard! San Fran's got some new eyes

Francesco it is great to see you posting here and your subjects are the best!

Leighton I was on my way out the door when I saw you sunrise photo and had to stop and take another look. Now I am all about family and that's a wonderful photo but the second one is certainly campaigning for the right to be called........... "Leightons Very Best!!!!

Can somebody help me out, please?

The description says it's a non-AI lens (and that would not work/damage my non-Df camera...):
http://www.ebay.ch/itm/Nikon-Nikkor-NC-Auto-24mm-f2-8-manual-focus-lens-/141340594538?pt=DE_Foto_Camcorder_Objektive&hash=item20e88e516a

But then, after buying my 135/3.5 which was AIed before, I've been told here: The not-solid bunny ears normally say a lens has been converted to AI. Will that lens work on a D3 without damaging it?

Thank you for a short reply.

Roland - It should fit your D3 just fine. It has a factory AI ring installed.

Thanks for the kudo's on the puppy shot. I took that indoors with horrible light @ ISO6400, which constituted the B&W conversion. I think that the 135-Q balanced the best on the D7000. I loved the lens, but used it so infrequently that when someone asked for it, I sold it.

I am doing OK. We are doing OK. The week leading up to the 4th wasn't fun, things got pretty bumpy for a while. Pushing through it. Hope to post more soon. I did get my computer working again, so I can start to edit.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Very encouraging.

To add to the discussion on hoods, I prefer to use the rubber HR series on my 50's and the Noct. I like the way they roll up out of the way and give a bit of cushioning while traveling.

Thanks all for the kind words

@the solitaire Now you have me a bit worried? Should I be worried about any kind of moisture like a light mist/fog humidly or just a more steady rain? Regardless I hope to keep my lenses around for a long time to come but not at the sake of scared to use them.

@NightOwl Cat love that song a classic, cant wait for the sequel

Put this together last night for a friend's prototype the 28 2.8 was a perfect lens for it as I needed the 6" zoom to get in on the detail of the coils but a wide enough lens to capture the whole object. In short I use ecigarettes/vaping devices and for those that are more advanced like building their own internals. This handy little gadget makes perfect coils which heat the wick. In the past you would have to coil these yourself around drill bits and hope you have a steady hand. Quite a cool, simple little device

The second way you can check is that converted lenses... i.e. lenses with a new aperture ring will have a second row of aperture numbers in smaller type very near the bottom of the ring. Chuong is right in his assessment. It will work fine. I absolutely love that little lens. The optical formula is different from the later versions but I love how it performs. And the scalloped metal focusing ring is a delight to use. I posted this before but I love what this lens does...

Happy shooting Roland.
