Could you recommend a good but short, shorter 200 mm or 300 mm lens ? Thank u joanlvh

If you mean in FL, then you can't beat the 180mm f2.8 ED AIS. As Curtis would say, it's a desert island lens.

Lovely shots Ray, but this one really catches my eye

Beautiful photos. Leighton now that you have come to your senses on the 50mm 1.2, here are some photos from your next lens the 135mm F2. I was inspired by Rafael to take this lens to the monthly auto show here in town.

Chuong, I've taken to just carrying it all the time, never know when the opportunity will arise to get a unique shot with it. Great job on these.

Thanks for your comments on the B&W horse portrait. I also enjoyed a few shots with the 16mm f3.5 AI. It's been sitting in the case for a while. I didn't have any good subject to use it with. It's a great lens and a keeper for me.

Bummer on losing a hard drive, Kevin, definitely not a fun way to spend the days... but glad you were able to recover the data at least.

Haven't been on much, my computer lost a hard drive. Thankfully I was able to recover the data off the drive. It has given me the opportunity to play around a bit. Have one smaller drive running Linux and another drive with Windows 7. I am hoping to see if I can do viable photo editing in Linux, using free tools. I will have Windows as a backup.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.
She's trained to roll either to the right or left; I do the jazz hands in front of here first so she knows to wait for which hand I turn up.
I pay her in small doggy treats (1/4 inch squares of dried lamb jerky) which doesn't sound like much I know
2 flashes were positioned on camera right and another 1 camera left (small SB-R200s)
I initially tested with Oolong's 'boyfriend' - a small soft toy beagle, to minimize her time with the flashes
So in the dark corner of the living room, the flashes were the only sources of light
All in all, I took 2 sequences; first with 3 shots and the next with 2. The flashes don't recharge as fast so I can't go click-click-click-click in strobe-light fashion

Grats Laura

Have been loving the film shots Samy. The reflections are very unique, filled with tiny ripple lines.

Rafael, some day I'll visit you so that we can drive around with the top down and shoot stuff.

Leighton, the colours are awesome. Next project I will shoot my store-bought produce to show you their lack of lustre!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. But you MUST have street markets available to you?

Early this morning working with the 180 f2.8 Ais. Did somebody mention "desert island lens".
Thanks for looking,

Ah, none that I know of. There are a few farms in the northern region of the island but those are commercial too, with distribution to the supermarkets. There's simply no land (nor profit considering the scarcity of land) to grow stuff here.

Good morning Scott. Very nice set AGAIN. I love the light falling on the barn in the first image. I also like the FL compression seen in the last one. Are you SURE you don't live around here?

Since there's only a few of us on here this morning, so I'll post another from the other day using the 50-135mm. These are small Broccoli plants waiting to be put in the ground. They just happen to be sitting in front of our salad spinner.

Scott, love that rolling road in farm country!

Reagan and Philip, very nice to hear from you again. Philip, very nice pic of Margot!

Curtis, great pic of the hallway with the light coming into the end.

Rafael, great demo of removing the 135 f2 CA. What software do you use? Love the San Marcos motorbikes!

Ray, just wonderful pic of the green car with the 135 f2!

Delicious look at the broccoli leaves Leighton. All these crisp veggie pics are making me crave for veggies. Not something I normally do!

Samy ... my wife and I got engaged in Annapolis. I hear Price Georges St is fairly commercial now, with chains and the old businesses gone!

Ray ... where was that car show? Tampa!

Reagan ... The last shot were from St. Augustine ... did my "ghost" get you too!

Scott, Leighton, Laura, Nuno Chin, Chuong and Phillippe please accept this simple acknowledgement that was earlier expressed by the "Like" button!

Alas ... the Desert Island Lens went with me on the "Jet II", the 180 ED Here is the result.

Some fantastic architecture and cars in the last few pages ....

Excellent guys and girls ...

Oh and foodstuff too ....

I opened the cupboard yesterday and a strap was in the way of getting a lens out ...

So I followed it back to its case .... and out popped the 100-300mm f5.6 ... a not oft used lens ...

In my inquisitive state I dragged it out from the back of the shelf ...

Popped it on the camera .... as you do ....

went in the garden ... and found this little fellow ...

Shot at the 100mm end with the macro focus zone engaged

Hey presto ... we have frog ... though I resisted the temptation to have frogs legs for dinner yesterday !!

Steve
