What say you all? (remember I am on Dx)

Kevin,
I am determined to sell you some lenses. I haven't advertised them yet but my Nikon lenses are going to be for sale and I have a 24 2.8 AI (9+) and a 35 2.8 AI'd via notch (9+).

If interested PM me and we'll talk. I hope to get them and a few others listed on the B&S forum in a few days.

I am mostly interested in which Nikkor lenses Rafael does NOT own, and why. Makes it a lot easier to judge future lens acquisitions.

Ray Very nice warm looking photos, it is foggy and cool here, so especially nice to see.

Rafael I have a 5.8cm and just noticed in your photos that there are no rear flange screws, how do you disassemble it to make a cut for AI?

Here's a link that compares the 5.8 with a present plastic lens.

Jay, I want to say that the mount unscrews and unless my brain is totally mush, it is a reverse screw.

I ran into a sweet cat during a walk this morning... I had the 105 f/2.5 P AI mounted and after a few attempts got a photo showing its brilliant eyes. Sadly, it did not stick around long enough that I could give it a few rubs. I post it for all the cat fanciers among us. I know not everyone loves cats. They are much more independent that dogs and their indifference can put people off. Those who have the patience, however, are greatly rewarded by their feline friends.

Kevin, if autofocus lenses would work there are two inexpensive zooms that would be good:

18-70 DX
http://www.keh.com/camera/Nikon-Digital-Zoom-Lenses/1/sku-DN07999070184R?r=FE

18-55 w/VR
http://www.keh.com/camera/Nikon-Digital-Zoom-Lenses/1/sku-DN07999098594R?r=FE

(the VR version is supposed to be better than the one without)

Leighton, I haven't ventured into the other programs in the Nik suite but when others play with them it definitely whets my appetite.

With regard to the cat... when I posted that I definitely thought about the usefulness of cats on a farm. Most barns have at least one to keep the mice population under control. Of course, even urban cats are adept at finding birds and mice they happily bring home for their companion to celebrate with them... My black cat ran around the house proudly carrying what it believed was a mouse. We discovered when we caught him that is was a well used Brillo pad... But yes, they are great hunters.

So I'm splitting time between this thread and Bridges of the World in the City, Streets & Architecture forum. Some of you have showed up with photos to share, which delights me. A few moments ago, inspired by Rinie who posted a photo of a small bridge in the Netherlands, I searched out a bridge I'd shot during a bicycle trip I took with her. It was so nice I thought I'd share it here as well. This is Delfthavn, a port from which early Dutch settlers to the United States embarked. This is the port... Shot with the 28 f/2.8 AI-s. I took only five MF lenses on that trip although I'd been shooting MF for only a couple of months. The trip happened a few weeks after I'd started this thread... my how time flies...

Curtis, what a lovely town to have visited, I could get lost in this place shooting. Reminds me of Georg's home town. Funny story about the Brillo pad.

Once again hitting the like button as I am typing on the small tablet. Did manage to get myself in and out of the Tahoe safely. Robin was so relieved that she bought me lunch in the Hosp cafeteria and let me tour the parking gaage. Couple of car shots from Dr.s parking!

I go home Saturday and she is nervous about my care and handling. I have a great wife, friend and now nurse that allows me to buy lenses.

Some shots from today. Cool cat Curtis. Ray didn't see any beach blankets when we were at UT.

Laura the 24 2.8 is a steal and better than you'd expect.

Definitely appreciate how you've taken what is surely a challenging chapter in your life and found occasion to play a bit with us and to indulge your enjoyment of photography. Possibilities are a bit limited when you're bound to one location but you've done well. I know you're happy to be heading home.

A friend of mine expressed sentiments similar to Robin's when her partner was scheduled to return home after an extended stay in a convalescent hospital following a stroke. No matter how much you love someone, being asked to care for another person returning from hospital can be unnerving. You don't want to make a mistake when the consequences can be so dire. I flew to southern California a few months back when a friend was having surgery on his shoulder to give his wife some support. We worked very hard and still my friend ended up back in the hospital. I really felt as though I'd dropped the ball, though what happened could happen to anyone. My friend is doing much better and the crisis is over, for which I'm very relieved.

Slow and easy does it. Have a good trip home Ken.

Jay it is actually easier than a lens with the screws in the bayonet mount.

All you have to do is remove the aperture ring side screw that connects to the aperture slide inside,

THEN all you have to do is unscrew the aperture ring counterclockwise, The aperture ring in these lenses screws in on its own threads.
