Ronny, impressive portraits of Nitro again. The bokeh (background was difficult here) is pretty wild, a nice match for your majestic dog in my opinion ;-) So how do you like the 50/1.2?

Thanks
Will probably be fine .. not Zeiss bokeh .. but it is very special
and f 1.2 is fun .. However, it is very sharp at f2.0 and over .. I was probably a bit surprised by it .. though I read about it

Two more images with the 400/3.5 from today:

Thanks for the likes / comments on the Photography shop images.

That is indeed a ginger Jay, we have some in the garden, the locals call it Native or Shell Ginger.

Good work with the V1 georg, the 2.7x crop is certainly a good thing to have in the bag when you need all the reach you can get.

James - that cat pic is cool, so 3Desque !

Went out to the high desert today to check on the California Poppy bloom. The bloom is dismal this year due to the lack of rain. The area I was in only received about 3" this year, normal is 6" to 8" and in exceptional years 12" plus inches.

The photos are SOOC, they really look that bright. On good to exceptional years the background hills you see in the photos look like they are on fire.... From 10 miles away, but alas, not this year.

The Poppy's are the state flower but if you look at the greenery they actually look like weeds and the part above the ground will die off in a month or two until next year.

All photos were shot with either a 200m f4.0 AI Micro, a 105mm f2.5 AI-s or a 28mm f2.0 AI-s. Shot from wide open to f8. All photos taken with a D700 at low ISO's.

George. The sepia tone was a good call. For the color harbor I love all the harbor colors but the church distracts

Next up in our village tour is the Chemist/Pharmacy/Apocathary. Probably where we spent the longest time, the hundreds of individual small bottles of 'snake oils' and potions with outrageous claims were fantastic, will have to go again.

Still a pretty impressive sight Gregg ! I would perhaps call them wildflowers rather than weeds !! They grow in the verges and hedgerows in the uk but not in such concentrations (and usually red)

Great shots ... I especially like the 5th one with the power lines. Nice contrast between the man made and nature. Really nicely done.

I just picked up Rafael's 55mm f1.2 S.C. Switched out the AI'd ring from my existing Nikkor-S model and tested it out. It's a keeper for me. Who wants the Nikkor-S non-AI now?

I cannot tell the differences between the two models but I am sticking with the coated version.

At 2.8 through the window.

Wide open.

They're very beautiful Gregg, even the mountains in the background have huge swaths of orange visible from afar. The symmetry in the power lines are sublime

Funny you should mention wildflowers/weeds Andy, I can imagine something similar with Paterson's curse in Australia

Thanks for the comments about Phoebe. She was on her throne today (a chair covered with a throw).

I didn't stage this...she actually sits in the chair this way. PC-Nikkor 28mm f3.5 at about f4 or 5.6

Thank you all for the nice comments on my desert wildflowers.

There are so many excellent photos in this thread, it's all I can do to keep up. I am wearing out the like button.

I love that name! I might stil it, for my baby gray! Nice photo's! My girls names are, Luna Bleu, Soleil Tabitha, Jasmine Rose, Romea, and Valentina, because we thought those last two were boys! I'm a cat house, and well, I sleep on the floor. xD oh yeah, we named Isis, Isis, before we figured out she, is actually a he, however, my son insisted we kept calling him Isis, versus Osiris! Aslo, Cupid is the other brother, nd Kitty Kitty is their mom! Our outdoor cats are there as well, and, being the name crazy man I is, they are named as followed, Autumn, due to his time of birth, and color, Sage, likewise on the color, and their sister is Tommi, and their mama is Solstice. e have a boy that basically lives out there in our shed as well, and he hath been named, SOL! xD
