Reagan, I went back to the lab to make this comparison of the creamy bokeh of the 55mm f/1.2 and the 50mm f/1.8. To be scientific about it, both lenses were set at f/2.
I think you can discern a subtle but meaningful difference in the way these optics draw. I noted at the time a certain feeling of satisfaction that originated deep inside me that I experienced while testing the 50mm.

Dean, you said this was your first attempt? You must be joking, these look great. You have a good eye with matching themes, I can't make up my mind which one I like the best. I wanna see more!

Thanks, Leighton !! Yeah ... first shot at this. I was quite surprised seeing the end result

Totally contrary to my inner geek, I read the FM2 manual and saw there was a multiple exposure lever ... one thing lead to another

I think I can do a lot better now that I have done it once this was just some quick practice between appointments. I need to work out how I can make one image more dominant than the other ... varying exposure or exposing for shadows or highlights in one maybe?

Here's my mate ... always at the bottom of a pint of Guinness

Dean Wow, what a great set, double exposures done the hard way! Like them all but the Mega Store is my favorite.
I'm missing seeing that incredible shot of the IV motorcycle rider on the AF thread you started. Hope you can fix that sometime.
-Jay-

Thanks Reagan and Jay.

I nearly wasn't going to post the Mega Store pic as I shot one in portrait and the second exposure in landscape. I decided in the end I liked her outfit enough to just post anyway

Jay .. the IV drip motorcycle image is there but the one under it isn't. I will dig it up and fix the missing one. I may have deleted that from my Flickr when I culled it a while back. Probably a lot of my images are gone actually.

Congrats Ray on finding an amazing deal on eBay. Try the lottery now and get us all the goodies we love using that powerball!

Congrats Curtis on your 135mm QC., waiting to see the family photo like Rafael did with his 55mm.

Since I am almost moving, I have stopped looking at eBay as I wont be able to get it shipped. I did order a Vivitar AT3/AI extension tube set for $20. Cant wait to try it on my 135 and others.

Today, tried to do multiple exposure on the D600. Happy on the

Well I scored the 75-150 series E for 16 bucks, I'm just a bit nervous about AI-ing it as it will be my first attempt. It will be fun to have a push pull in my collection

Now a question for anyone who might have an answer. I'm not certain the best way to remove very dry adhesive from the metal hood of my newest acquisition. The hood is integral to the lens and not a separate piece. I thought to use an alcohol swab but my partner suggested that might not be the best solution, that it could damage the finish of the lens. Anyone have a secret for tackling something like this. My guess is this adhesive was applied a very long time ago and it is

although it might get the paint as well... if its really tough try nail polish remover... just wipe it clean with water as soon as the ick comes off or the next day the paint will slide right off!!!

I never use https for my images here. There is no reason to secure them . They load slower because of the encryption and decryption process. The SSL issue two days ago might also be the reason why https does not work.

Once again the pace of this thread is amazing ....

And some very interesting double exposures ... Love the Guiness head !!!

I thought I'd just sneak a couple from Paris into the mix ....

Photographers .... of different sorts ...

I was interested to see the guy with the Polaroid Land Camera .... I thought it would have died by now ... as for film ... well ... expensive I guess.

And then you get the blonde lady taking a picture of her beau ...... it takes all sorts .... and it's a pink one too !!!

People watching is such a great event !!!

Both taken with the 50-135 Leighton !!

Only fear is that one fine day in the future if none of our images linked from Flickr were to show up due to a policy change or something..Wouldn't that be a sad day for us..Scary

Nice buy!!!! You won't have to AI that lens. The lens is an AIS, so out of the box it should work on your camera.

https image urls don't work because of the way the forum parses the image URL to insert either image tags or link anchors into the actual html. Would be an easy fix. At least in my experience, https image links have never worked here. The only way they work is within embed code from Flickr or other hosts, which triggers different scripting here on the forum.

You can really feel that https is slower loading a few images? I know theoretically there is a difference, but other than geeky perfectionism, there's no real impact on load speeds. Your monitor is probably far slower drawing the next screen (1/60th of a second on your average LCD screen) than it would take the computer to decrypt an entire page of images. Bandwidth is the only factor that really matters.

As for Flickr, I changed my experience to German and the site is what I have known for years, no changes there.

Gia

All Series E lenses are AI / AI-s compliant. No conversion should be needed.

Are you positing photos elsewhere on FM with your Nikkors and your Fuji body? If so, please give us a link.

No more manual focus Nikkor zooms for me.

You all know the story of my free 50-135 f3.5. I found a 75-150 series E on the FM and specifically asked the seller via PM if there was any zoom creep. He emphatically stated that the there wasn't. I bought the lens and received same. I unpacked the lens and set it on my desk. As soon as I took my hand off of the zoom collar said zoom collar flew (not creeped) to the bottom of it's travel. Needless to say it has zoom creep all throughout the zoom range except when at the tele position, it seems to bind a bit there.

To add insult to injury, the dirt-bag seller is making me pay shipping both ways.

What is it with these Nikkor zooms? Both are near mint examples. Is zoom creep to be expected as a reality of life with these lenses?

I'm going to limit my MF Nikkor collection to primes only and use Pro level AF-S Nikkors for my zoom needs.

End of rant !!

Gregg
