Nuno... what Kevin and John said. This is a lens that will live between f/1.4 and f/2. In a pinch you might stop down to f/2.8 or even f/4 but this is a portrait lens, not a landscape lens. You'll never notice the particles on the inside of the lens. I bought my EX+ copy of this lens for $600 and have yet to shine a flashlight through it to see what might be lurking there. The AI-s version of this lens was manufactured for 24 years with the last ones produced nine years ago. The lens you're considering has a serial number that places it in the middle of that production, so it is well over twenty years old. It is always nice to get really clean copies of lenses but lets not forget that they've been around for a while and may have picked up a bit of dust along the way. I'd grab it at that price. And if you don't want it you might want to post a link to the listing since I bet someone else would be interested at that price...

Thank you guys!

I said YES!

The lens should be with me by Wednesday, latest on Thursday. Just in time for my trip down south to Portugal and Madeira on Sunday.

I will give it some good testing during the following days and then decide if I don't mind the extra size compared to the 85/2 that I currently own.

One of them I will sell for sure. I'm not like most of you guys here, collecting multiple copies of each focal length, at least not yet.

I think that's something you acquire once you get old, or?! hahaha

Nuno, congrats! The price is really low in my opinion. I don't wanna scare you, but dust-particles might show off at wide apertures too: in the highlights at "bokeh-shots". It really depends how critical you are looking at your images. I have quite a few lenses with particles in it and can live with this fact ;-)

Thanks Georg. I will check it out soon enough. I think some of the dust specks showing up are actually on the outside. I will give it a good clean up once I have it with me.

The remaining dust specks might be behind the front glass, which it seems to be easy to remove and clean.

I think the price is really great, especially with delivery already included.

Congrats on the lens Vic and a lovely shot (of your daughter ?) it is a special lens.

Congrats on the 85/1.4 Nuno, GREAT price, great lens, the dust is normal and won't be an issue as others have said.

Ronny - more cracking seascapes, I could look at them all day, and am thinking of getting a 10 stopper myself soon.

Peter - wow, love those images of the cars, particularly the jags. My dad loved his jags and had an old 1971 XJ6 4.2 Daimler for a while. Not a classic like the older ones or the E type but still a beautiful looking car and so smooooooooooooth
I nearly bought a 5.3 V12 XJS once, not something you wanna do in the uk, all these old british cars fare much better in places like SA and Aus !

Thanks for the kind words Curtis, I'm def having a ball with all these old heritage places.

Like I said to James, I'll be stuffed when I encounter something modern to capture / process
which could be sooner than you think as we are going back to the UK for a 5 week visit, the first time we have been back since arriving in Australia 7 years ago.

I know that a lot of new and interesting buildings have been erected since we left on the waterfront in Liverpool which is on the other side of the river from where we will be so expect lots of city shots at night.

As a counterpoint we also have 1 of those weeks in Turkey for my BiL's wedding. Unfortunately not Istanbul, but hopefully may get a couple of excursions in to some interesting natural phenomenon etc.

and a couple of trips to Scotland to see family / friends

Andy

Yup, I was there before this thread was created My skills have improved a little since then, too. IIRR, I also posted on your 105 f/2.5 thread as well. Must be going to sleep soon, test starts at 9 in the morning, and it's one of those timed tests with 170 questions on it, four sections, 209 minutes total to take it. I feel somewhat confident on this test.

When you're up to it, Ken, I've got to hear the story of the hike gone bad. Makes me think I need some sort of noisemaker in my pockets now when I go out. I think your wife is going to need quite a few prayers too.

Here are a few more black and whites that I took with the 50mm f/1.8. I took them on the monochrome setting in camera, but the software I'm using wouldn't let me keep the black and white settings from the camera. :/ So this is with me messing with the sliders quite a bit. Let me know what you all think!!

Intended to shoot the moon + planes tonight from the front porch, but the "seeing" was pretty bad, that or the 400/5.6 ED-AI was just not happy with the warm weather.

So the 135/2 AIS came out and imaged our 2 year old young lady . . . .

Thanks James. The Tuileries garden, located between The Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, features numerous sculptures. This one is "Médée", sculpted in marble in 1896 by Paul-Jean-Baptiste Gasq.
