James, please excuse my ignorance: was the bridge shot with the pictured D300 or a FX-body? I've tried my 28/3.5PC on a D7000 and found it was barely useable (unlike the modern, but more expensive, large and heavy 45/2.8 PC-E and PC 85/2.8D).
On FX (12MP here) the corners are never really sharp if the 28PC is shifted more than about 6 or 7mm, the outer regions are looking fuzzy somehow.
I agree about the mechanical qualities of the 28PC, a joy to handle well-made lenses.

I shot the bridge with the D800. I only mounted the lens on the D300 because I wanted it on a body to show it mounted. I haven't tried it on the D300 yet. I hand held the bridge shot, and dialed in the shift....which I think was only about 6 or 7. The lower left corner is the only part of the frame which has any content to judge sharpness by - and it is sharp all the way into the corner. My main goal was to get something I could create a lens profile with to fix the CA, and to just use the lens. Not a very good test of sharpness. Apparently Adobe removed the slider adjustments for CA from ACR v6.6 with the tick box in v6.7 and later, but it works very well.

Is there a difference between tubes to MF lenses and AF lenses
or works all to both?
Have a friend who has problems with the sharpness on AF- lens and tubes

Steve, the "Chaffinch" is one of your best bird-portraits in my opinion, well done! Thanks for letting me know that the mouse made it safely down to earth ;-)

Ray, lovely portraits of the kids! Must be good to know that "Superman" is part of the family

Nuno, sorry to hear about the possible defective 85/1.4! Good to very good examples go for about 500-700 Euros here in Germany. A really mint copy for under 500 Euros is what I would call a steal.

David, "Into the light" is a classic. A very well framed "simple" shot. I love images like this - no need for additional elements (a jumping whale here, some seagulls there and a German sub at the horizon ;-).

Flo, another very inspiring street-scene. I like your processing a lot.

Chin, nice airport-picture, great "play" with lines and shapes again.

Ken, very "grungy" takes on the train. Funny that the numbers were "stamped" over the graffiti.
Graffiti, unfortunately not the artistic variant, is a really big problem here. Bombings, tags everywhere, especially on fresh painted buildings. A police-officer told me that some sprayers get expired paint in large amounts for free or a few Euros from large stores.

Scott, very nice looking door-shot. Looks like a nice place in the coming summer-months...

Andy, love the hood-ornament dedicated to Steve. The bud-close-up (#5488) is very nice too.

Rafael, wow, what a mighty fine collection! I'm glad that you didn't showed a close-up of a F or F2 with sports-finder again, this would have ensued (term?) a hectic ebay-search over here ;-)

Curtis, beautiful work with your desert-island-lens!

Ronny, love your Nitro-portraits with the 50/1.2!

Leighton and Scott - thanks! Yes, it's a nice example of outdated building-methods and nice craftsmanship.
This building was very close to collapse back in the late 70's (read: in the times behind the Iron Curtain). It was a little wonder that it was restored under the "socialist government".
Well known architects were raising their voices to keep this building as "building of historic importance". It was called and used as house of architects afterwards.
In front of it is one of my favorite parking-places in the city, that's why I tend to abuse the "Hausbaumhaus" as test-subject, like in this case:

28/3.5PC - probably at f/8, don't recall the amount of shift - I would guess about 8 to 10 mm
I try to find clear vertical lines as farming-aids when using the PC-lenses. The 28/3.5 PC's distortion is not too bad here (uncorrected).

Georg, do they come up often, those for 500 euros?

The seller has now sent me some sample photos he took today with the 85/1.4 Ai-S and his D700. JPG files out of the camera. He has also lowered the price to 550 USD (396 EUR, 325 GBP). He also told me that he bought the lens from a videographer and it was already like this.

So here is the lens again:

And here are the original JPG that I would ask you guys to have a look at please.

Curtis, superb flowers;

Steve, superb chaffinch portrait with 500/4 - and hand held!!!!

James, congrats on the new 28/PC and excellent correction of CA using ACR;

Georg, great architectural sets;

Ray, lovely kids portraits;

Rafael, what a mint collection! I mirror Curtis: what is your secret shop??

Yesterday I put the 50-300/45 ED to work for some usual and unusual visitors of my balcony;

the usual visitor (something interesting below... a banana ) :

Young Great Kiskadee with Nikkor 50-300mm f/4.5 ED ais por labecoaves, no Flickr

D7100 + Nikkor 50-300mm f/4.5 ED ais @ 200mm + tripod. ISO 500, f/8 at 1/320s, ~25% cropped. Youngs are identified by a yellowish flesh at the base of the bill.

and the unusual visitor:

Chalk-browed Mockingbird with Nikkor 50-300mm f/4.5 ED ais por labecoaves, no Flickr

Chalk-browed Mockingbird.
D7100 + Nikkor 50-300mm f/4.5 ED ais @~135mm + tripod. ISO 500, f/8 at 1/500s, ~60% cropped. Unfortunately I cut the tip of the tail at the moment of shooting.

Cut tail or not, these are awesome shots! I see on the last one its 60% cropped, could you not increase the focal distance past 135mm so you would have to crop less in post?

Not impressed, these are rather average and the 5.6 one is not sharp enough to the edges, they are all a tinge soft, this lens may have been serviced to a low standard. My honest opinion.

Beautiful bokeh Scott. Kinda wish I hadn't sold my copy of this lens....I just couldn't justify three different 35mm lenses.

An interesting breakfast with Nanna.

First time really playing around with the 28/AIS. The 35mm focal length fits my eye to a tee, so this lens should be fun. Speaking of which, I have a 35mm f/2 O converted coming my way in a few days.

As a side note, I once bought a nice version of the 28mm f/1.4D, and it was so-so. For $2,500 - it was more like "Meh". After a year I ended up selling it for $250 more than I paid for it.

...I have to say, this 28/2AIS has some serious promise. Especially considering it was about 1/10th the cost of the 1.4D, it's going to find a permanent place in my Manual Focus bag no matter what. Of the last 4 lenses I've purchased (85mm f/2 AIS, 105mm f/2.5 AIS, 135mm f/2.8 Non-AI, 35mm f/2 O, and all being in a Excellent++ condition or better, I've spent a little more than $200 once. Good lord, that's CHA-CHING!
