On Fx, it gets soft at the corners, but it is quite nice on Dx. I would say that it is a little under rated because of its mix of plastic/metal in its construction. Optically, it is pretty nice. I usually set it to f/5.6 and leave it there. f/5.6-f/8 is the sweet spot for sharpness.

My set on Flickr with this lens and D7000: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kevinwoodard/sets/72157632470475929/

A few notables. Also, this lens renders quite nice, don't have to do much processing with it. Most shots on my Flickr page don't have a lot of processing with this lens.

Wonderful stuff, Kevin. Thank you for the info.

The set on Flickr looks great !!

I'm probably not too concerned about the corners or the build quality ... it's just that some of the other Nikon MF beauties in that FL are not so much bigger. Anyway ... still looking

Chin, I really enjoy following Oolong's journey through your home

Ray, nice set from Ybor City! Regarding the lens of choice for walking around: in my case it's mostly a short telephoto - could be the 85/2 Ais, the 85/1.8 H or any of my 105's.

Ram, nice cloud over the skyline, without it the cityscape would look not as interesting.

Ronny, nice shot from the swedish coast again. With some luck I'll take a closer look this summer (probably more the area around Malmö/Ystad).

Steve, nice closeups of your sewing kit.

Michael, your excellent family-candids are a joy to look at. Thanks for sharing!

Kevin, I recall your fine shots with the 28/2.8E, great work!

Philippe, as stated before, I really like your Alsace-images and the fountain-detail is no exception.

Buddy, another nice set from the woods! My favorite photo-forest is placed on the coast, unfortunately it's located above a nude-beach, so walking around with a large camera in the summer months makes me feel a bit uneasy ;-)

I also have the 28/3.5 HC. It is also a fun lens. Not as lightweight as the Series E, but a nice performer as well. I use it a touch more than the E, but that is only because I lost the E for a while (It fell into a shoe and was put away, no joke... )

Dean, Mark used the Series-E 28/2.8 on his D4 quite a bit, if memory serves. I never cared much about the Series-E-lenses (didn't like my 50/1.8 E), but was very surprised by the qualities of the 100/2.8E.
Speaking of surprises: I've watched a youtube-clip about Bruce Gilden (known for his unique close-range street-portraits with a Leica M + strobe) and saw him using a FM2 (or similar film-Nikon) too ;-)

Hey Georg.

Thanks for the info. Bruce is a very cool campaigner and great to know he used an FM2 !!! He's totally whacky ... which I really like Leighton sent me a video link featuring a lot of Bruce. Mostly Leica as you say. I've had a hard time bonding with Leica for some reason ... I've owned 4 over the last year, including an film M6. I just prefer the FM2 for some reason. I want to learn to use this camera properly ... and quickly

Kevin from here also uses the 28/2.8 E.

I have heard good things

Thanks Kevin! I'll watch a few of these and see how they go. The first lens from Japan is the one with a small speck of fungus, so I've discounted that one, but the others are all interesting....

Cheers, and thanks for doing this!

He's brilliant !! He needs to go to Napoli ... they are too uptight in Milan It certainly looks like an FM2 he's using. Jeff Mermelstein is my favourite. The most important thing is that they just love what they are doing ... what's not to love about roaming the streets

Rafael I'd have my checkbook out for at least one Rusty "T." Whether I could afford it or when I would get around to restore it ,,, well that's another question. I THOUGHT CALIFORNIA CARS DIDN'T RUST!!!

Ken, this was one interesting backyard, but the choice pieces were probably picked already. There was one pick up in the garage with a sold sign already. the pieces were mostly usable, not rusted through, California desert cars don't rust. California beach cars rust quickly as Nancy showed us.

The shot of the Blue Angels in the cloud is FANtastic!

Ray FLA - cannot handle more projects until the lottery is won.

Careful with your eyes Buddy

Philippe is getting minimalist on us, only in France do pieces of tube look like a fish mouth.

Ray, I like the street scenes. Thank you for the comment on #47.

Kevin, nice series.

Ronny, lovely flower macro. nice rich colors.

Georg, these are both terrific. The bench background is very sweet. The flowers are wonderful.

George your chair shot was amazing and so was the blue flower and the flag. Simply amazing..
Steve, nice macro work. Love the safety pin.
As usual nice shot Ronny..
Ray, nice shots on the 35mm f1.4. During my Tampa visit, I was supposed to visit this place., but had to cancel out last minute due to time constraint. Your work on 35mm inspired me to take my 35mm f2.5 E series out today. Photos below.
Craig., super shot.. I think your AIS is really sharp one. I own the 85mm f2 AI version which is amazing little tool as well.
Chin, your dog is a great poser. I am impressed by your strobist work as well. How did you manage to fix a speedlight in your neighbour's toilet bowl without worrying about dropping it?

I took my 35mm f2.5 E series and AF 300mm f2.8 to the park today. AF shots will be posted to the AF forum.
All shots taken wide open.
