Jeff - Thanks for the comment
Steve - The 1st train shot is great, the color, composition and subject all click!
Lester - I enjoyed that tram station photo that just draws your interest.
Ray- What can I say there is a magic genie in that lens

The aircraft pictures had me looking for one that's a bit interesting. The D700 and the 24mm 2.8 with a double starburst on the prop. I don't recall ever seeing one like it.

Lestor, that old Station Looks awefully familiar. I have been in Brussels quite a few times in th epast few years because it's not too far from where I live, and I think I visited the place at least once before.

Well then this one is for you! I actually cropped it by accident then liked it.

Reagan - The 28mmF/2 is a dazzler ... don't want to hear any 50 mm talk for a while

Following Ken I used the 28-45 4.5 this afternoon for a couple of shots. Light was too bright for bigger subjects but these two worked OK.

From memory the sweet spot is f8 but I tried a couple of extremes to see the result. Considering I was shooting into the light without a hood the flare is not too bad.

Peter,

The lens is a handful when into the sun. I'm guessing 1 to 1.3 stop(s) added exposure when wide open. Seems very sharp on the D700. I liked your shots.

Thank you everyone for the comments and likes on the barns.

Ray, I really like the first series at the benefit.

Rafael, great colors and background in the "building bokeh" image.

Kevin, nice work with the 75-150. Great color.

LSDS, I really like the park bench in the blue light.

Andy, lovely bird and flower. What colors!

Ken, cool Navy jet. From this angle it has a bit of a ME-262 look about it.

Steve, the table setting through the train window is very nice.

Reagan, nice series. I like the shot down the tracks.

Jeff, Ray - thanks

Ray - great series

Ken - I like the aviation shots. The plane in the background to the "double starburst" is a Texan trainer which was known by the RAF and Commonwealth air forces as the "Harvard". They were in service with the SAAF well into the 1980's and possibly early '90's and served as the basic trainer for a few generations of South African pilots. Many a jumbo captain recalls fondly the days of the Harvard. There are a number in private hands that fly regularly.

Thanks for the comments on the 28 -45. I like the way it works on the D200. As with most 28mm (my 3 at least), because of the w/a the focus indicator generally only shows at infinity on most "normal' (non close up) shots.

Rafael, Jeff, Andy, Steve, Reagan, Kevin, lsds - thanks for sharing your excellent work.

For some or other reason, despite being retired and as Ingrid says idle, I don't seem to have time to look and comment as I di before. Also it's been as hot as hell here and very humid which is unusual for Knysna, so maybe that's it.

If I've left anyone out - apologies.

Lestor, I know the place indeed. Had a girlfriend living Close to there once. I'll let you know next time I go there so we can meet and greet. It would be really nice to meet another Manual Focus addict

Peter, I forgot to mention, but that backlit plane tree shot is great. I love the PP work you did on that as well. Well seen

Reagon, the 28mm f2 seems to like you. Those first two shots are breathtaking. I love the smooth transitions from sharp to slightly dreamy. I might have to reconsider that lens in Exchange for the 28mm f2,8 Ai which is good but never made me really happy.

Nice shooting everyone!

From the other morning. I spent most of the previous day digging paths to get to all of our animals, only to have more snow and very windy conditions the next morning cover it all up again. So I said the heck with it and we took a drive around the neighborhood. This is the largest/flattest field for miles around. As you can see, the snow was blowing pretty good.

Kevin Good to see you are back and posting images. If you find the tightening instructions I'm interested.

Andy It is interesting to see your part of the world.

Leighton The tongue is a nice welcome home shot.

Fons That lens you used on the cows has a plasticy rendition.

Gregg I think that focusing the 55mm f/1.2 is not so hard because of the bright image. I should try my unused 50mm f/1.4 to see how it does, Ray just shot a great series with his 1.4 recently.

Buddy That's a well camouflaged stink bug.

James Those lights look interesting and effective, probably run nice and cool too.

Ken I never paid attention to the early zoom wide angles, the results look good!

Jeff Cool shot of the Cat building with the plane landing. I witnessed a turbine test ending in failure in that building!

Mihai you have such interesting subjects, that old casino is amazing.

Scott Those old barn shot have really good tones.

Larry I sure have seen a lot of that airport over the years!

Rafael Nice mission photos!

Ray Yes the fern was from the Bok tower, along with many many other 55mm shots. Thanks for the great outing! I love the benefit shots, and am amazed at how that out of focus candle turned out. Great shots.

Lestor Very heroic looking architecture, my favorite is the one with the scaffolding in the background.

Pete Nice wide angle close photos!

Steve At those prices I'd be outside looking in. Nice pink crystal bokeh, my wife just bought some pink crystal salt, I'll have to give that a try!

Reagan Good work with the 28mm. That's my favorite focal length and you are using it very nicely. I looked up the weather in Fla yesterday, and it started the forecast with 'This is why we live in Florida.' and said sunny and 70 degrees!

Chin Lots of patterns in 'when I grow up'

Between Leighton and Reagan there is quite a contrast in weather.

Either this thread picked up speed over the weekend or I've been preoccupied. Good pics, all, shout out to three.

Andy, the Lorikeets pic is way way cool!

Leighton, "Blowing Snow" captured the mood perfectly!

Ken, double starburst was a nice catch; good eye!

Leighton, I think it's great that you do the drive-arounds so often these days. That scene is magnificent.
